Even given the problems we encountered with the rotary control and software on the X20, it's still a good player, offering sharp, bright video and excellent sound reproduction. The real-time encoding of recordings is a useful extra, too. There are no games or stopwatch, but overall this is a fair player for the money. Read more

I bought this product because it had everything I was looking for: 1)Price not inflated by brand name (iPod anyone?) 2)User replaceable battery 3)Upgradeable memory (SD-card slot) 4)Usable under Linux 5)Charger available (ie you don't need to have a PC to hand to charge it, which is required when I'm on holiday) On the whole I have been very happy with the player. Good things: 1)The voice recorder does very well even with the built in mic 2)It plays video! Although I ... Read more

  1. SDHC card format

So does that mean that the iRiver x20 can only be expanded by 2Gb? I'm considering buying one and that would be a real decision maker. Also, does it have a sleep function? Claire

  2. New MP3 Player - Removable Battery

The iRiver X20 has a user-removable battery, with each battery lasting about 22 hours (music playback). You can get spares of them if that helps? But, if you wanted to get a recharger pack like the Exspect Recharge4 , you can recharge your player without actually having...

  3. best mp3player for recording audio? (line in)

In my opinion, the better quality player for this would be the Cowon iAudio D2 - but you need to buy the line-in adapter cable seperately. Worth it though for an extra £7.99. Alternatively, you can record line-in straight out of the box using the iRiver X20, which I would recommend because of its broad features base, although the quality isn't quite the same as the D2.

Shortlist: Sony nwa808 iRiver x20 iAudio 7 I am looking for a player that is over 6gb and has good sound quality. The sound quality is probably the most important aspect of what i am looking for hence my shortlist. Which out of the 3 has the best sound quality?.

  5. Help, I want a new MP3 player!

...ers don't do that? I'm looking for an flash player with the main priorities being capacity and good sound and build quality. I'm not interested in whether it plays video or not but they all seem to on 8GB models. I was also thinking on something like the iRiver X20, Creative Zen V+, Sony NWZA818 , or Samsung YP-T10JCB/XEU. (I wouldn't have an Apple even if they were free.) There are so many on the market now though any advice would helpful to narrow down the possibilties! Cheers, Jimbo.
