When ready to use this innovation from iRiver the wait is a short one. It has possibly the fastest start-up time of all MP3 players. Sporting a 2.2 inch display any jogger will feel in the lead simply by having this on their arm, and with 25 hours play time it will outlast the most avid jogger. It comes standard with earphones, installation CD, a few preloaded tracks from eMusic and it also comes with preloaded games! Of course it comes with an FM radio tuner and voice recorder. It also brags of a TV-like design with a resolution of 320x240 pixels and even integrates with Windows Media Player 11.Navigation is also user-friendly as the directional controls are actually the four sides of the display. The top edge of the player holds two tiny little volume controls.
On the right side is the power switch and a smart switch which is a short cut to a preset feature set by the user. The left side of the sleek player is where the earphones will bring the magical sound of precision tuning to the ears of the music lover. It also sets itself apart from the crowd with not only a voice recorder but also a calendar and alarm clock. Cost comparison and feature comparison rank the Clix right up there with the 2 Gig iPod nano. Games on the Clix include Sudoku which is preloaded and operates with Macromedia Flash. If there is confusion while learning to operate the Clix it even comes equipped with a tutorial and a printed manual. When downloading songs and games the Clix is very user friendly. However, when downloading videos they need to be in a format compatible with MPEG-4. They even offer free software to convert video files into compatible Clix video.

Remember when the click wheels found on portable media players were innovative and unique? Yeah, now they're about as exciting as 3.5-inch floppies. Thankfully, the second generation of Iriver's Clix foregoes this clichéd control scheme with a clickable (not touch) screen for easy menu navigation. Clix 2.0 is sleeker, half an ounce lighter and features enhanced video playback at 30 frames per second. And its beautiful 2.2-inch LCD screen has been replaced with an even... Read more
In my experience iRiver products never quite hit the mark. Despite the fact that iRiver players tend to exhibit superior sound quality to pretty much anything else on the market (bar Sony), the clumsy design and poor user interface tend to overshadow those aural delights. But this time iRiver seems to have got almost everything right and the clix 2 is possibly the most desirable portable media player available. Read more
The iRiver Clix is a superbly designed MP3 player that's easy to use and packed with pretty much every feature in the book. If you're looking for a stylish Janus-compatible device and you don't need a boatload of storage, this is your player Read more
The Clix sounds great, and its 2.2-inch color display delivers spectacular image quality even when viewed off axis. The player supports Microsoft’s Plays For Sure music, so it’s compatible with a wide variety of subscription music services, but iRiver recommends you use Microsoft’s clunky Windows Media Player to load music into the player’s 2GB of storage. Use it to upload your meticulously ripped MP3s, and it will first unnecessarily convert them to WMA format.... Read more
I love this thing. When it came I was surprised how small it was. I was aware of the dimensions and was still surprised how small it is. Both my wife and I find the navigation easier and more "logical" than our IPods. I have a skin cover for it so the finger print thing isn't an issue anymore (cost me $8 + shipping). I have the 4GB - I'm not sure how much space was taken up by all the stuff (pics I don't use etc) that came on it (I'm taking them off today), but as of... Read more
At the time we could not afford an Ipod so I researched other options 3 years ago. It sounded like this Iriver fit our budget and sounded very good. It comes in all this fancy packaging and came across like a very high end product. But it was problematic from the get go. We updated the firmware several times but the thing wouldn't work very much. This was for my teenage daughter and she got so frustrated with it she didn't even want to bother us about it any more. It sat... Read more

These guys thumbs-down reviewers here are full of it and clearly incapable of operating a computer - so they should indeed go waste their money on iPods. For the rest of us, know that the Clix2 works great and is actually superior to the iPods; the Clix is not choked by DRM silliness and has a very smooth user interface. You can just plug into USB port and drag/drop MP3s right onto the player. You don't need Windows Media Player (nobody does). It will work with PFS but... Read more
