In general, the Creative Zen X-Fi 8GB Black is a digital player cum radio, with supported PC interface via Hi-speed USB. It has an integrated flash memory installed with a capacity of 8GB and voice recording capability. Included accessories consist of earphones and USB 2.0 cable. In terms of its radio, it uses a digital radio tuner with 32 preset stations and FM tuner band. It supports digital audio standards of AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA, ADPCM and audible. It runs on a lithium ion rechargeable player battery that is integrated. In terms of display, it has a built-in TFT display that measures 2.5 inches diagonally with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and backlight display. Besides that, it also has a built-in speaker, built-in equalizer with 8 factory presets in pop, jaz, rock, disco, vocal, new-age, classic and acoustical, as well as built-in microphone with mono operation mode. Other than that, its audio system consistsis of stereo sound output mode with additional features including Calendar, Bass Boost, Volume control, Voice recording, Built-in organizer, X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity, USB 2.0 compatibility and X-Fi Crystalizer technology. Besides that, video playback features include video playback support of motion JPEG, WMV, MPEG-4, DivX and XviD, as well as still image format including JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG and TIFF.

Surprisingly, the wireless features really do work fantastically well. If you add all your music to Windows Media Player on your PC, you can then make it accessible via your network. Which means you can play (and even download) music from your PC, to your MP3 player without having to plug it in via USB (you can do that too if you prefer). Read more

Just got rid of my 8Gb iPod Touch in favour of this. My previous play was a HDD based Creative Zen Sleek 20Gb. I'll start by disagreeing with the CPC review on this. 1) The menu system isn't as unintuitive as portrayed here in my opinion - its also customisable in that you can remove menus that you do not use. 2) It isn't "Slow" - tracks copy quickly and load quickly from the player. 3) It works perfectly on my Vista 64 Bit Based machine. Normally, my experience with Creative products have been good ones. When I was in the market for a pmp I was excited to see that Creative made one too. I like their sound cards in my computers and therefore I felt could expect the same quality in their MP3 players. My first MP3 player from Creative was a Zen 8gb. I bought this for my girlfriend, who is now my wife. She is tech OK, but not fascinated by it. She loves the Zen, and can use it wihtout too much trouble, it has no sync problems and sounds ace. Also working happily after a year or so. Top banana as a product. I would buy one, but buy the 32gb option. Read more
