Review Summary
According to Pcadvisor.co.uk, it looks as though Creative is taking another go, this time breaking the market with its Zen Stone. Creative’s Zen Stone is a featherweight, pebble-shaped player that mimics precisely those non-attributes of Apple’s Shuffle that Creative mocked. The shiny black plastic Stone is also available in juicy lime green as well as pink, red, white and bright blue that suits different consumer taste. There is no Equalizer, but the output is extremely good, even through the standard earphones Creative supplied. Users also said that this mini minor also has Album skip feature and comes with a USB connection. Usually users might get maximum 10 hours of continuous playback. Some suggest that the Stone is especially suitable for use during vigorous activities like running and skating. The Zen Stone managed to receive some critics nevertheless. In a year dominated by shiny surfaces and touch screens, the Zen Stone seems to be a little outdated. Unfortunately, users also could not select songs and enjoy screen display of what was currently playing. Users will appreciate more if Creative would include clip or armband as attachment accessories in future. Based on reviews from Itreviews.co.uk and Pocket-lint.co.uk, this is a great little player for users longing for experience and music in a small package and not fussed about the screen.
Your music in great shape. Incredibly tiny, with incredible sound - that’s the ZEN Stone. Available in a choice of six glossy colours and two memory sizes, its looks match its performance, bringing…

Another marvellous offering from Creative, the nice-looking Creative Zen Stone 2GB With Built-In Speaker takes the iPod shuffle's winning formula, boosts the battery life, lowers the price (the 2GB shuffle costs £45) and adds a small speaker. It's not quite as user-friendly as Apple's market-leading gadget, but this is an excellent purchase. Read more

The built-in speaker may have few real-life applications, but it makes room for a more capacious battery, and it takes nothing away. For that reason, and because of its tiny price, we can't help but think this is a stunning alternative the iPod shuffle Read more

Creative Zen Stone MP3 player

Whether you prefer this to the Shuffle really might depend on how many DRM-protected iTunes tracks you’ve bought. If the answer’s none/few, then it’s worth considering, primarily as a secondary player to take with you on occasions where you need something very light, and which won’t cost too much to replace if it gets damaged. In addition the folder-skip function gives it a big advantage over the Shuffle, and for something priced at under £30, it's certainly worth con... Read more

As far as budget mp3 players go, very few strike a balance between price and quality like the Creative Zen Stone. I bought mine for £24.99, and to this day I consider this one of my shrewdest buys. Although capacity is limited, this little piece of kit does everything you could want from an mp3 player. It's a very small piece of equipment (the size of my friend's iPod screen alone!); easy enough to unobtrusively slip into a pocket, and the additional accessories avail... Read more

help needed
...nge, the M18 model in particular. Not exactly a stellar player as it is entry level, but it would fit your criteria (that is if it worked properly with Windows ME). There's also the Sumvision GIO to consider. The other ones I would recommend would be the Creative Zen Stone Plus or the Sandisk Sansa Clip, but it would be more tricky to get drivers for those.

mains powered MP3 players
Well, the Creative ZEN Stone won't - found that out the expensive way - which prompted the enquiry. It's funny how the mind works - I'd not envisaged a combined player/power unit. I guess it'd make sense for the application I have in mind buuut there probably wouldn't be enough sold to...

Won an MP3 player - but where is it??
I wrote a letter in October last year to a computer magazine. In the first week of November I was delighted to see that not only was it printed, it was chosen as the "Star letter"!! I was thrilled - the star letter writer that month would receive a 4GB Creative Zen Stone Plus MP3 player. I emailed the magazine on December 10th, wondering if the prize had been sent (it would have made an ideal Christmas present for my autistic brother). I got no response, and I did not know if it had been simply lost in the post. I sent anot...

A word of warning about the zen stone plus 2GB
Just putting this out there - I wouldn't recommend buying the Creative Zen Stone Plus 2 GB. Additionally this post should serve as word of warning for dealing with Creative Technical Support generally. I bought a Zen Stone Plus 2GB player late last year. It initially worked well (except for the extremely poor battery life). About 2 mont...
