It is available in a compact size that makes it portable and also easy to use. It supports protected WMA files and it has a long lasting battery life and is available at an economical price. The Archos Gmini XS202 can be bought by just about anyone as its prices are very attractive. The set measures 59 x 19 x 76mm and weighs about 120 grams and it has an elegant appearance. The Archos Gmini XS202 comes with an LCD display screen, which is large enough measuring almost 2 inches diagonally along with an outstanding contrast and a blue backlighting. The LCD screen displays the name of the artist, song, album and even the next song to be scheduled for display. Apart from this, it also shows the time remaining, elapsed time, total length of the song and also a progress gauge. It also has an easy to follow menu.
A joystick that comes with it helps in browsing and selecting the songs, artists, title, genre, play list or even the year. You can even listen to songs downloaded from off the Internet. It is best heard while using headphones as that seems to bring out the best sound clarity. The battery life is remarkable with 25.3 hours of support. The major drawback is that it lacks FM radio and even a voice recorder, which is mostly seen in all other models. Moreover, its appearance may look a little drab to some. The Archos Gmini XS202 is best for those who are looking out for a high-capacity music player, which has an unexpectedly long battery life and is available at a decent price.

The Creative Zen Micro that we reviewed a few days ago does a pretty good job of combining the aforementioned desirable features, but the 5GB capacity may be too small for some users. I think the Archos Gmini XS202S has been one of the best purchases I've made in my life (providing it proves durable, of course--I've had it over a year and no major problems so far, with quite heavy use). Is it a perfect player? No, there is no such thing. But it's because I USE it so much that makes it an important addition. Judge your next MP3 player not by what is "the best", but by what you'll USE THE MOST. Most of the "limitations" of this player make it the great... Read more
This review is from: Archos Gmini XS202 20GB MP3 player (Electronics) This was a gem - 1. it wasn't the ubiquitous ipod 2. It would fit in my pocket nicer than an ipod 3. I didn't have to use itunes (can you tell im not a big ipod fan?) it also had good sound quality and a decent battery life. It stopped working on christmas eve - a day short of 2 years since I'd got it (hard drive packed in). Now I fully appreciate that nothing lasts forever but I would have expected a... Read more
