Review Summary

Pcpro.co.uk simply dubbed the Apple’s iPod Touch as a brilliant marriage of software and hardware. Apple’s Midas touch has extended to touch screen keyboards, and the Touch has one of the finest models to experience. Practically speaking, users felt easy to get up to speed on the keyboard, reaching the same kinds of speed one could expect from a Blackberry. This gadget runs a touch screen version of OS X, and offer applications including Apple’s Safari web browser, one for watching YouTube videos, plus calendar and contact features. The unit use flash memory for storage available with either 8GB or 16GB of storage. Users found out that the browsing experience is superb. Pages are rendered quickly, and zooming in or out is easy. It also plays music by means of Apple’s Cover Flow, a handy way of browsing albums by cover. And uniquely, the Touch automatically grabs iTunes account details from PC, allowing users to buy songs over a WiFi network. However, the biggest disappointment would be the screen contrast problem which seems to be a little too dim. All the data-centric applications such as the Google Maps application are also not available. Users encountered problems on pages with lots of Flash and Digg.com where a few odd bugs were displayed. The lack of physical buttons means hassle when changing tracks or the volume from the user’s pocket itself. This model may come with minor defects here and there, but as a consumer-level media device for occasional internet browsing, the Touch is superb.
