The K850i is a Sony Ericsson camera phone just as its predecessors. It is the first of the K-series to be equipped with three-touch sensor soft-menu keys. The 2.2-in display phone has dimensions of 102 x 48 x 17 mm and weighs at 118g. The K850i comes equipped with 40 MB of internal memory and a 2.2" 256K colours, 240 x 320 pixels touch screen display. The main function of this cell phone would be its 5.0 Megapixel digital camera. It has automatic lens cover and auto focus. The K850i mobile phone also features an integrated MP3 player and radio. The right side of the cell phone carries the camera’s on/off button. Motion sensor (with UI auto-rotate) is also featured on this phone. To move between modes, simply rotate the phone and the picture follows. This 3G phone runs on the network standard, GSM and is capable of global roaming (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). The Li-Po 930 mAh (BST-38) battery features a Stand-by time of up to 400 h and Talk time of up to 9 h. This phone is available in the colours Luminous Green, Velvet Blue and Quicksilver Black.

Camera

This touch screen phone is best known for its 5 megapixel camera with 2592х1944 pixels, autofocus, video(QVGA@30fps), xenon flash and 3LED video light. A secondary videocall camera is included. The Macro mode can be used for taking extreme close-up pictures and a special mode for red-eye reduction is available. A few applications are included for the camera’s assistance. Among them, the BestPic which can take nine shots in quick succession. The Photo fix which improves underexposed pictures instantly. The Photo Mate that shows you the tricks you need to know to get those perfect shots. The PictBridge application is aloso included. Photos and videos can be sent/uploaded to your blog through this phone.

Features

The usual features on the K850i include Messaging (SMS, MMS, Email, Instant Messaging), Phonebook (1000 x 20 fields), Java MIDP 2.0, FM radio with RDS, T9, Image viewer, Organiser, Built-in handsfree and Voice memo/dial. Other features include Polyphonic (72 channels) and MP3 ringtones, Memory Stick Micro (M2)/microSD, Browser (WAP 2.0/HTML (NetFront), RSS reader) and TrackID music recognition. A media player that supports formats like MP3/AAC/MPEG4 is included. Accessories provided are a battery charger, headset, data cable, manuals and software.

Sony Ericsson K850i is a five megapixel Cybershot camphone with lots of interesting features and pleasantly quite compact. Sony Ericsson has ensured that the K850i is almost just like a digital camera with a power-up camera key that automatically and flawlessly opens the integrated shutter cap. It also includes a three-way switch that activates camera, video and photo playback modes. However the Sony Ericsson K850i does not feature an optical zoom but it comes with an autofocus and Xenon flash abilities and the BestPic and Photo Fix picture software. The camera user-interface has also been squeezed though it is easy to use. The K850i also features accelerometer sensors that were first advertised by the Apple iPhone that auto rotates the image you’re viewing from portrait to landscape with just a flick of your wrist. The keypad layout is made up of tiny square keys that are easy to use. The Sony Ericsson K850i large 2.4-inch screen is much brighter and very detailed. The Memory Stick Micro slot is found at the bottom of the phone and there is also a space for a mini SD card. According to reviewers from stuff.tv this is a great asset for digital camera users who may have invested in large memory cards. These reviewers are more or less satisfied with the Sony Ericsson K850i and their only regret is that it lacks an optical zoom.
