The SGH-G800 is a big phone and that could prove to be its downfall. Its camera is good but can't rival a dedicated shooter, so you could end up carrying some of its bulk unnecessarily as you double it up with a high quality camera. Still, it's a first. Read more

When you buy a mobile phone with a view to using its camera instead of having a dedicated digital camera for your snaps, you inevitably make some compromises. Even the best mobile phone camera can't match a nicely specified pocket digital camera for features and capabilities. Read more

Samsung SGH-G800 5Mp cameraphone
Reviewer: reghardware.co.uk23 January 2008- Overall 8

The G800 isn't quite ready to replace a dedicated digital camera just yet. The autofocus system is up there with the best mobiles but isn’t as sophisticated as one you'll find in a decent camera. Samsung SGH-G800 with Contract: Samsung 5meg leaves you in the dark.
Reviewer: dooyoo.co.uk25 February 2008- Overall 4

Upgraded to this phone recently from D900 , i thought this was to be the all singing all dancing rival for the N95 . However i was to be disappointed. Although the functionality of the phone is good , with regard to menu and ease of use . The so called 5meg camera had a very poor picture quality, mainly the lighting of shots always came up dark despite adjusting all controls. If you are looking for a decent camera phone stick with the nokia, my daughter and best frien... Read more

Got this the other day and so far I like it. Camera takes good pictures, flash not as good as I'd hoped though, but in good light the pictures are excellent. Optical zoom a nice touch, use it all the time and nice touch is can use while recording video. Video quality good too. Compared to my old Nokia 3250 I’m liking the change. Web browsing looks good, shame it can't do landscape though. PC software not as good as my Nokia software, can't seem to access my phoneboo... Read more
