Belkin WaveRest Gel Mouse Pad: The Perfect Substitute
25 February 2011
Summary: I received the Belkin Gel Mousepad for my birthday a couple of years ago. I do a lot of work on computers and I am always trying new mousemats for that extra bit of comfort and wrist support. The soft, gel hump at the base of the mousemat really provides that extra support you need. It takes away most muscle tension and stress on your wrist. I suffer from repetitive strain injury and some days it can be hard to continue working at my computer.
Summary: High friction, no glide. Some might like a no-glide surface. With the small footprint to move on, this surface might work best for high mouse sensitivity, low movement settings. The friction is high enough that when I hit the side of my mouse (a hefty Logitech G600) it hardly slides from the resulting inertia while the same force sends it over a foot on my bare desk (rough wood).
Summary: if you are using your mouse - i think you'll love having a mousepad with a rest but a more expensive one would probably be more comf this one is OK we got one from walmart that is a little more cushy
Summary: I have been using it for 4 months now and the wrist rest is totally depressed in the middle where my wrist rests most of the time. It was in good shape and comfortable when I bought it, but not very durable.
Summary: This is my second purchase of these pads. They are very comfortable and work great. The material they are made out of does cause them to show dirt easily however. Also at first, the material makes a bit of sound when the mouse moves over it due to the friction. After some use though, the material softens and feels better/gets quieter. These do last a long time, at which point the material will start to bubble up and separate from the bottom cushion/rubber.
Summary: My old Belkin gel pad, after about 6 years of use, had worn down to the point where the center of the gel wrist rest had developed an indentation that was too low to be comfortable anymore. I was thrilled to find what looked like an exact replacement online; however, upon receiving the item, I was disappointed. This product advertises itself as a "gel" pad. My old one certainly was.
Summary: Sleek black fabric, and no company name showing when you use it! The gel is a little hard right at first, but I'm hoping that means it will last for a long time. Textured rubber backing means it won't slide or damage furniture. Good buy!
