This lens set comes with f/2.8 constant maximum aperture. This lens has a variable focus range and the closest focus is 4.9 feet, and remains constant throughout the zoom range. This lens has a zoom of 0.16 xs. The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM has an overall linear extension system that comes with its USM system.

Features

The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM comes with 2 high-refraction lens elements and a set of Gaussian optics to help to eliminate astigmatism. The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Micro USM also comes with the standard custom made plastic mount and has the built in ability to focus and zoom steadily. The bundled Extra-small Micro USM help to focus adjustment and has a full-time manual focusing function as well, and this lens is suited to accompany a zoom when shooting in low-light conditions. The maximum diameter is measured by length of 84.6 by 193.6 cm and the lens construction comes in 23 elements and in 8 groups. The angle of view (Horizontal, Vertical, and Diagonal) is at 29 to 10 degrees, 19 to 7 degrees or 34 to 2 degrees. The number of diaphragm blades is 8 and has a minimum aperture of 32. The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Micro USM comes with a magnification with an extension tube at EF 12 II: 0.22 to 0.06. The secondary magnification comes with an extension tube of EF 25 II: 0.41 to 0.14. The lens hood that comes with this set is the ET-83II and the built in hard case is a LH-D24B. The prepackaged soft case is an LZ1324. The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM comes with a Micro USM AF actuator which is a Micro USM type.

    The Canon 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM is quite simply an excellent lens, which will reward users with quality images in almost every situation. On full-frame 35mm, sharpness is very good even wide open, becoming excellent corner-to-corner when stopped down. In addition, chromatic aberration is remarkably low, distortion well under control, and vignetting no worse than we'd expect in this class.     The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 USM IS is a very good lens but not a stellar one. The resolution characteristic is excellent at 70mm and 135mm but at 200mm it disappoints - more so regarding its price tag. The results are still very good here (just at f/2.8) but when putting things into perspective (e.g. vs the superb EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L IS) the delivered quality is not overly impressive. Based on the performance at 200mm the potential with tele converters seems "limited".... Read more

    This is one of the ONLY lenses I've ever used that I'd say was as close to perfect as one has a right to expect. I've shot everything from Olympic venues to RC Model Airplanes doing flyby's in excess of 90mph. You simply can NOT make a mistake buying this lens. If you use this focal range it will transform your shooting and your number of keepers as well. Do NOT let the price disuade you.     What more do you want from a lens. This is the daddy at the range. Working a lot outside at night this gives me the security of mind knowing that I can still get away without using flash where its not needed. Read more

    I have owned this lens for about five months. My first results were disappointing, then after learning how to use a 400mm lens my results became better and better. It takes time and desire to know this lens. The lens produce the finest photographs of mine. I print large photos and it seems to me that printed images really show the quality of this lens.     This lens is fantastic. The price can catch you off guard a little, but it's for sure worth every penny. The best part is it's very versatile. I was able to use it for scenery pictures in the morning and photograph a high school volleyball game the same day. Great lens for any need. Read more

    " This lens is every portrait photographer's dream. The focal legnth is great on a full-frame body (5D Mark II), and definately usable on cropped sensors (50D).
