  • 100-400m vs 70-200mm + 2x extender

Hi All, I am going to purchase a lens for the summer when I am visiting Tanzania on Safari. I have previously owned the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 USM L IS but was forced to sell to put the proceeds towards my honeymoon a couple of years back. Anyway my question is this would you recommend buying the same again or going for the 70-200mm f2.8 USM L plus a canon 2x extender? It would have to be the non IS version of the 70-200 as I have a budget of around £1000 for lens + extender. I am considering this approach as I think after the holiday I would get a lot more milleage out of the 70-200 than the 100-400 as I won't always need the extra zoom. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

It would be much better if you buy the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 USM L IS
