MSI GX700

Mesh’s GX700 is a high performance laptop that current range of gaming notebooks. It’s second in performance only to the more expensive flagship GX700. Even 3.2kg is light in the 17" size range. However, this is no bad thing - it provides something to hold when you are carrying the notebook.

Powering the graphics output is an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT chipset which comes with 512MB of dedicated DDR3 memory, but it is also able to access up to 255MB of the system memory for a total of 767MB.. Mesh has equipped the GX700 with 250GB of storage space Western Digital SATA hard drive. The drive is 8MB cache and a spin speed of 5,400rpm. To keep this drive free from clutter there is a DVD burner built into the left-hand side of the chassis. Built into the front of the chassis are a 4-in-1 card reader, a 4-pin Firewire port and three audio ports for the 4.1 audio system Gigabit wired Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth.

    The MSI GX700 Extreme Edition Laptop is only let down by the 8600M GT graphics card. However compared to most laptops you can at least play games and it is DX10. The rest of the Laptop was great, Vista performance, screen, HDMI port, build quality were all top notch. If only the Laptop had a HD-DVD player then this would have been even better, otherwise the HDMI port looses its appeal.     The MSI Megabook GX700 Extreme is based on the most up-to-date technology by Intel, a Core 2 Duo T7500 with a clock-rate of 2,2 GHz and 4  MByte L2-Cache. The processor is part of the current Santa Rosa mobile technology and is connected to the chip-set via a 800 MHz bus.
