As of the date of this review, Altec Lansing’s T612 has no competition as a Works With iPhone speaker system: it’s your only option if you want a unit that is guaranteed to provide appropriate power, shielding, and nearly seamless handling for the iPhone’s unique wireless capabilities. While other systems will be available over the next few months, T612 is a good baseline for the iPhone speaker category, and though it’s not as strong on frills or low-end... Read more

Put simply, the T612 is of interest to iPhone 3G owners only, or those who plan on becoming iPhone owners. It will work with other iPods, but at an asking price of $399 it's a somewhat rich option unless you need the shielding it offers. Read more

The Altec Lansing T612 is one of the first officially iPhone-compatible speaker systems, and it's a decent overall product. Sound quality is average, though, and bass response is noticeably lacking. Read more

The bottom line: While it's missing a couple of key features found in competing models, the T612 distinguishes itself with a sleek design, decent sound, and some mobile phone anti-interference technology that makes the system particularly appealing to iPhone owners. Read more

Comments about Altec Lansing T612 Multimedia Speaker System: My question when I heard it was "where is the rest?" How such big sound comes from such a small unit? Only four stars because when I see the word system I think multiple speakers. And what the heck is transparent sound? Read more

Sounds ok, not great. Works with 3GS if Docking Adapter is removed; don't have a case for iPhone; so don't know how that will impact the unit. Read more

I purchased this ipod dock as a gift for my wife. She absolutely loves it. It looks good and sounds great. It has a cord which doesn't make it super portable, but we did unplug it all the time and move it around the house. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs an ipod speaker dock. She also has an iphone... Read more

I have a little trouble getting the iphone sound to come through the speakers at first. Seems I have to wiggle the iphone a bit to make the connection. Other than that I think this is a flawless product. Read more

Overall a great middle of the road dock. Not high-end but definitely not low-end. Received a lot of compliments on this product. I have not really run into the issues that some people are referring to but I am not using the iPhone. Read more
