Sony DAV-X10 Home Theatre System comes with lots of features, from the splendid main DVD, amplifier to its receivers. The circular left and right speakers, with the subwoofer connect with the main unit using a single split cord. The buttons on the remote control are perfectly organised and the onscreen menus are easy to read and understand. The unit also comes with a microphone that is useful in auto-configure its sound levels to adjust with your position. It also features two Digital Media which enable hook-up with portable audio sources or computers via suitable adaptors. For your information, please know that one such adaptor, the TDM-BT1, is included. The Sony DAV-X10 also features an HDMI output, which can deliver pictures upscaled to 720p or 1080i (though not 1080p), analogue and digital audio inputs, a component video output for progressive scan pictures, AM/FM tuner jacks. Reviewers from stuff.tv found the Sony DAV-X10 Home Theatre to be quite expensive, especially as there are no recording features. However the sound quality is not up to the level as the speakers are too light as compared with its subwoofer. Even after using the system’s auto-calibration system, one can hear an echoing sound. On the other hand, picture performance is good, colours and images are sharp.
At least the subwoofer rumbles along enthusiastically. Ultimately, to my mind, it's clear the Sony DAV X10 is a case of style over substance. Read more
