The Yamaha YST-FSW150 subwoofer is a horizontally oriented sub that is situated as a short sub of only 6 inches in height. Low-profile subwoofers are starting to really take off in this aesthetics-driven marketplace. Since consumers are often attempting to match their new flat panel displays with equally sleek-looking speakers, the pursuit of low-profile subwoofers is becoming a new trend. Read more

  2. Yamaha YSP-4000 Sound Projector & YST-FSW150 Subwoofer

Yamaha’s flagship Sound Projector is shockingly good at what it does well: namely, producing surround sound from one speaker enclosure. It’s somewhat more accomplished with movies than music, but when you stop and consider the YSP-4000’s abundant features lineup and the synergistic support of that nifty YST-FSW150 subwoofer, the Yamaha duo is hard to beat. This small subwoofer is connected to my Yamaha YSP-1000 in my living room, a small 15'X15' space, and truly makes the movies come alive on my SonyXBR. I have not used my Yamaha Receiver with it's surround six speaker system since adding this YST-FSW150 to my old Yamaha YSP-1000 sound bar. Wow, suddenly I realize I don't need all the extra sound equipment on my Bell'O entertainment stand. See, less IS sometimes BEST! Read more

The unit is provided with only single wire connections, which works okay in an A/V application, but if you're intending to use it with a stereo receiver (that has left and right output connections), you'll need to go to an electronics store to buy a "Y" adapter because the unit doesn't ship with one. Had to buy by size, not a good thing. But this little workhorse is fantastic. Much better than the huge foot and a half square box that it replaced!!! Good sound and fits behind the entertainment center in the corner totally out of site! Read more
