Klipsch RC-62

The Klipsch RC-62 is a high-performance center channel speaker designed with Tapered Array technology for maximum dialogue clarity. It comes with a 1-inch titanium tweeter and dual high-output Cerametallic woofers providing intense bass response with astonishing speed and accuracy plus it is available in either Cherry or Black Ash wood grain vinyl finish and comes with a low-diffraction and magnetically shielded drivers to prevent video interference.

Features

The Klipsch RC-62 is designed with Tractrix Horns technology that includes improved throat geometry for a more genuine, lifelike sound combined a 1-inch titanium tweeter with a large ceramic motor structure to provide a unique combination of precision, clarity and effortless power. The RC-62 employs dual 6.5-inch woofers for a solid bass foundation. These Cerametallic woofers with inverted copper dust caps exhibit a very high stiffness-to-mass ratio and superb damping characteristics. It is also fitted with Tapered Array technology which operates both woofers at the lowest frequencies; maintaining the high output capability necessary for good center channel performance and only one operates all the way through the midrange to where the tweeter takes over. This eliminates acoustic interference between the woofer outputs. The RC-62’s cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound. Twin front-firing ports eliminate turbulence noise, while increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. For signal purity and perfect driver integration, the crossover on the RC-62 features the finest components and Klipsch custom internal wiring. The Klipsch RC-62 has a response bandwidth of up to 57Hz-23000Hz, approximately 3dB and peak power handling of 150W RMS, nominal power of 600W RMS. It also comes with 98dB @ 2.83V / 1m sensitivity, 8 ohms compatible nominal impedance and high frequency crossover of 1150Hz to 1650Hz. Apart from that, the RC-62 has an amplification type of 2.5-way passive and it uses the wired connectivity technology. The RC-62 measures at 59.7cm in width, 31.8cm in depth and 20.3cm in height and it weights in at 14.5kg.

I own Polk Audio RTi12 floorstanding speakers for fronts, and I know you're suppose to timbre match tweeters and speakers with same series brand. However, I wanted to find a center channel speaker that provides movie specific dialogue sound and possibly a good musically sounding speaker. The Polk Audio RTiA4, RTiA6, CSi3 or the monster CSi5 sounded flat compared to either the Klipsch RC-52 or RC-62. Not that there is anything wrong with these other choices. The horn and... Read more
