The Z22 is said to be one of the first of Palm, Inc.’s handhelds to be released under the new "Palm" brand, and the first to be released without the "Zire" moniker.Files can be synchronized between the organizer and the computer. This device was released in October 2005. The Palm Z22 has a touchscreen interface with 160 x 160-pixel colour touchscreen display. This handheld has 32 MB of flash memory (20 MB accessible for file and software storage), Palm OS 5.4 (Garnet), a 200 MHz ARM-based processor, and an internal rechargeable battery (that can be charged via the included AC adapter or via the USB cable connected to your PC). It has a compact outer look with a white front and translucent blue backing. It weights in at over 3 ounces and measures at 2.7 inches x 6 inches x 4.06 inches. The Z22 runs on a standard li-ion battery that has a life of about 8 hours depending on its function.

Features

Features like alarm, to do items, colour-coded categories, addresses and phone numbers are included in this handheld. The Find feature is also included whereby a name or a topic can be entered and then results would be shown as to where does it appear, such as in calendars or memos. The Palm Z22 features Palm OS Garnet 5.4 and a 200 MHz processor. It has the capability of trickle-charging through the USB interface when connected to a PC. It includes the NVFS feature, also known as NVRAM, which means that the unit does not lose data if ever the battery power runs out. Basic programs and features included are Contacts, Calculator (Calc), Tasks, Calendar, Note Pad, Memos, World Clock, Photos, Prefs and HotSync. The Z22 includes a new program called Addit which allows users to order software while offline, and then have it sent to the handheld at the next hotsync. There are programs like First Aid (basic first aid instructions), Check Split (a bill-splitting program) and Carbs (a carbohydrate nutritional calculator). It has Palm Desktop Software for Windows and Mac. The installed Palm OS 5.4 uses the Graffiti 2 writing software to input data into the handheld (as well as an on-screen keyboard). In the Palm Z22 handheld package comes the Palm Z22 handheld, USB sync cable, power adapter, 3-step setup poster, Graffiti 2 sticker, Software Install CD-ROM with Palm Desktop, Tutorial, Getting Started Guide, User Guide, and bonus software.
