Review Summary
TomTom’s latest device the Go 720 introduces a function called Map Share to in-car navigation. It enables users to add or make changes to mistakes in the onboard maps and upload them for other users to benefit from. The Go 720 includes other great features, a bright, high resolution 4.3in widescreen with a light sensor that automatically dims and increases brightness. It sensors noise and automatically adjusts its volume. It also features a text-to-speech engine that will read out road names and numbers as you approach turnings. The Go 720 also has an FM transmitter enabling you to hear the sound through your stereo, meaning that you can use it as your in-car MP3 player and hands-free phone. The text to speech engine even reads incoming text messages. Another plus device is that you can even record your own voice instructions. You can customize routes for walkers, bicycles, limited speed, motorway avoidance, speed or shortest distance. You can also set up alerts for specific types of POI, to beep when you are nearing a petrol station or a hotel. Another convenient feature is that you can add shortcuts to your favourite option to a screen that you can access via a dedicated button on the main screen. The 720 is also quick in updating maps and recalculates routes quickly when you stray off track and allows you to browse the map. Reviewers find that the route-planning, ease of use and driving directions are excellent, thus making the TomTom Go 720 the most capable, feature-packed, easy to use and innovative in-car sat-nav device on the market today.

It certainly seems that everyone I know is using one or other of these three services. But when you think about it, networking and sharing has always been an essential driving force in the world of technology, it's just the way in which we're doing it that has changed over the years.
