Pros & Cons

  • easy install, not overpriced like competitors, good all round product, it has a touch, good product
  • nothing of note, awkward buttons, on interstate highway, there are more annoyances

Navman iCN520 features a comprehensive set of navigation features in a compact frame and its main advantage is its portability. Some reviewers find that tapping on a small onscreen keyboard with a stylus is a bit cumbersome, especially if you are on the road; but Navman has made the searching mechanism as easy as possible. The iCN 520 sorts out the suburbs by state, and once a suburb is selected, all streets in that suburb (in alphabetical order) can be displayed with just one button click. Another way is to type the street’s name the on-screen keyboard, but this method is a bit slow. The iCN520 uses SmartST mapping software, and it can be viewed in either 2D or 3D modes or even topographical style. The display also shows the distance to the next turn up the top of the screen, with a graphical icon indicating its direction. The display at the bottom of the screen can also show the current location, distance to the next turn, distance remaining and current speed and current time. The audio instructions of the iCN 520 are clear and precise, with the distance to the next turn and then the direction to turn stated. The instructions are again repeated before the turn. Users can also set a preference for what type of route they want to use. Battery life lasts about 3.5 hours.

Navman iCN 520 4 I bought this item as a suprise for my husband, he uses it every day for work. He no longer has to print out maps, he just types in the address and it takes him right to his destination. Good product for the price. Add your Vote: Read more

This review is from: Navman ICN-520 - GPS Navigation System - with UK & European Maps (Electronics) I bought one of these in 2005 after seeing it in John Lewis. BIG mistake. Having seen a variety of sat nav units in action in various friends' cars I can honestly say that the Navman was the worst unit I have ever experienced. The main problems are as follows: a) Crashes regularly, involving a reset. b) The time taken to find a satellite signal is typically anywhere... Read more

Navman support is atrocious. You can never talk to a human, and email support is very uninterested in your problem. Their solution is always for you to buy some add-on to make it work properly. Maybe not as bad as Magellan support, but bad! Read more
