Excerpt: I've had this gps probably for about 3-4 years now. I have not had one problem with it. It completely lives up to what it says it can do. It's completely waterproof, and it floats. I've used this for hiking, geocaching, and fishing/crabbing.

Excerpt: A great GPS unit. I have used it quite a bit, both for hiking and flying. It has a lot of built-in features plus the uploadable mapping. Acquires very quickly and is completely waterproof. Great unit.
Conclusion: The SporTrak Map is a good GPS Receiver. The receiver is small, lightweight and has all the standard features that you'd want in a handheld GPS Receiver, the only thing lacking from this receiver is to be able to expand the store space allowing for larger maps to be downloaded with MapSend.
Summary: The unit itself works well, however beaware that deet will melt your unit, both the screen and the case. Also after about one year of use my SportTrac had a catastrophic software failure in the field.
Summary: I have a poor sense of direction and wanted a portable GPS unit to (1) use when traveling in unfamiliar places, and (2) to be able to map out some places by plotting points. I haven't plotted points yet, but have taken it on the road a fair bit.
Summary: I had a low end Magellan before I purchased this GPS. This GPS is great! It has map capabilities and is incredibly accurate. Make sure you buy NI-MH rechargeable batteries because it does suck the life out of regular batteries.
Summary: This is my first gps unit. I have used it a number of times and I love it! I don't have any software for it, but I do have a cigarette lighter adapter. I would highly recommend the adapter. I use it mainly for geocaching. It has never led me more than 5 feet away from any cache.
Summary: I took it jogging and it did a fine job tracking my path. I read too many negative things about the MapSend software so I tried some I found on the web (expertgps) which allowed you to download your track and plot it on a topo map and/or satellite photo. Very cool.
Summary: I bought the Magellan SporTrak to use when geocaching.([...]) It is great for what I use it for, which it downloading co'ords from online, and setting out to find such co'ords. I think it stores up to 500 waypoints and I find it easy to navigate between screens, and easy to delete waypoints.
