Summary: I purchased this Garmin from a company called GPSnow in 2002 (not sure if they are still in business). The Garmin has worked well for me, and has met all my expectations for a GPS. It's still going strong. Things I like about it: * handheld * waterproof * doesn't eat batteries * menu navigation is good (once you learn it...like anything else) * easy to use (once you learn it..
Summary: The product has not been useful as all so far on a trip to Europe because of the unavailability of satallites. I'm hoping a trip to the Grand Canyon will have more success. I didn't realize how old this product was when I bought it. Buyer beward.
Summary: I received this for Christmas. It is going back. I was walking around my front yard after getting a satellite fix and the Garman had me walking around in the middle of the lake behind me - which would have been 1/2 to 1/3 mile away. This was purchased to assist me with kayak navigating. With the kind of inaccuracy I cited, it would be very easy to stay lost. The only roads shown are the major highways, so land navigation in rural areas is impossible.
Summary: This GPS purchased at Amazon.con, is user friendly and easy to use. At home I added a number of waypoints for locations I use regularly while boating. Today actually, out on the water I put one of them to use. This was a reference point to head to when returning to my home harbor. The GPS got us there with no difficulty even though it was late afternoon and the sun was setting in a cloudy sky.
