Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is a first person action-adventure video game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo. It is the eighth game in the Metroid series, and a direct sequel to the previous Metroid Prime.

Features

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes takes place six months after the events of Prime. The story follows bounty hunter Samus Aran after being sent to rescue a group of Galactic Federation troopers in planet Aether. There she finds out the troopers were slaughtered by the Ing, an evil race that comes from an alternate dimension of Aether and tries to destroy the Ing while battling the Space Pirates and a mysterious doppelganger called Dark Samus. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes takes place in a large, open-ended world with different regions connected by elevators, and the gameplay revolves around solving puzzles to uncover secrets, platform jumping, and shooting foes with the help of a “lock-on” mechanism that allows circle strafing while staying aimed on the enemy. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes also features the existence of two parallel dimensions, Light and Dark Aether, in which changes in one dimension often reflect changes in the other. Dark Aether’s atmosphere is caustic and damages Samus’ power suit, requiring the player to move between special “safe zones” which prevents the player from dawdling in certain areas of the Dark World, and allows the health to be regained slowly.
