The Philips DVDR550 has a Progressive Scan component video for optimized image quality. It can play audio files in the form of MP3, MPEG2 Multi-channel, PCM and WMA from playback medias such as Audio CD, CD-R/RW, DVD+R, DL, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, MP3-CD, MP3-DVD and USB flash drives. The connectivity enhancements include i.LINK DV camcorder control. On the front or side connections are Audio L/R in, CVBS in, i.LINK DV in (IEEEI394, 4pin), S-video in and rear connections are Analogue audio Left/Right out, Component Video output, Composite video (CVBS) output, Digital coaxial out, HDMI output, RF antenna in/TV out and S-Video out. The Philips DVDR5500 offers convenience with a seven day Electronic Programme Guide, up to ten programmable events, and a programming/timer enhancement which can be set daily or weekly to record repeated programmes as well as a manual timer. The power consumption of the Philips DVDR5500 is 25W, with 220-240V, 50 Hz power supply and consumes only 3.1 W when on standby. The Still Picture Playback can play JPEG digital camera photo compression format from medias such as Picture CD, CD-R/RW, DVD+R DL, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW. USB flash drives and USB digital cameras (PTP). Photo enhancement options include ability to create albums, rotate, zoom, and slideshow with music playback. Video playback can read MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX 3.11, DivX4.x, DivX 5.x and DivX 6.0 from medias such as CD-R/CD-RW. DVD+R DL, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R DVD-Video, Video CD/SVCD. Accessories included in the package comprise of HDMI cable, two AAA batteries, Antenna cable, Full SCART cable, Quick start guide, Remote Control and a User Manual.

If I connect to a TV using Scart as expected sounds comes out of TV speakers and connected HIFI through the red and white audio out. However if connect to TV through HDMI audio comes out of TV speakers only. Can anyone help with a setting I should change?

can the DVDR5500 it play multi region dvd's ?. If not can it be converted without any problems. ?

Try this, First open disc tray with remote, then press home. You will see DVD Recorder screen.Highlight Disc Tray. Enter 0086000 using numbers on remote. RegFree should then appear on machine display. Close tray using remote. You should now be region
