See moreThe DVDR3480 is a DVD recorder that plays images at DVD-Video resolution. It has a 10-bit picture D/A converter, while the video recording system operates on NTSC and PAL. Philips DVD Recorders support ‘dual media’ recording that can create recordings on DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW and DVD+R DL discs. The DVDR3480 has a screen resolution of 720 x 576 (PAL) all the way down to EP mode. This DVD player has the dimensions are 360 x 45 x 322 mm (w x h x d), and weighs approximately 3 kg. The DVDR3480 has a rigid body that is said to be resistant to twisting. The main casing is metal with a silver paint finish, with a small area of air-vent slots cut into the top, and with four rubber feet to be used as its stands. The front black plastic panel and display are sloped backwards. A minimum number of round or bar-shaped buttons with a brushed-metal finish are also featured.
There are six recording modes. They are the High quality (HQ) mode which records one hour video on a single layer DVD; the Standard play (SP) mode (records two hours video on a single layer DVD), the Standard play plus (SPP) mode(records two hours thirty minutes video on a single layer DVD); the Long play (LP) mode (records three hours video on a single layer DVD), the Extended play (EP) mode (records four hours video on a single layer DVD) and the Super long play (SLP) mode (records six hours video on a single layer DVD). There’s a fold-down flap on the right-hand side that features some input connectors: yellow/white/red phono sockets for composite video, left and right stereo audio, a horizontal USB port (1.1 standard), and a vertical i.Link port (IEEE1394; ‘FireWire’) for recording DV. It plays DivX, MP3, WMA and JPEG digital camera photos. It is DivX Ultra Certified for the playback of DivX videos. It plays CD, (S)VCD, DVD, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL and can record up to 12 hours on double-layer discs. The DVDR3480 has an i.LINK digital input that will come to use when making digital camcorder copies. It is also known as IEEE 1394 and FireWire. Its USB Direct can play photos and music from USB flash drives. It features the SmartAlgo that helps in ensuring the recording quality and compatibility.
