Pros & Cons

  • touch screen makes moving, good touch screen controls, yet fiendishly addictive, and hugely tense, large amount of puzzles
  • menus are insanely dull, gets repetitive, puzzles become easier, in a word, after a while

It is conceivable Neves may provide some mild entertainment, especially for younger players, to whom the game is targeted. It is more than likely, however, you will quickly get tired of the sometimes-monotonous gameplay and oft-bizarre level of difficulty. Read more

The back of the box proclaims “A puzzling experience for a relaxing life” , but this is anything but relaxing, and I wouldn’t recommend giving this to an elderly relative. I am a patient guy but the extreme repetitiveness will annoy even the most enthusiastic puzzle fans. What should have been an addictive quest becomes tedium personified and one I can only recommend this if you plan on solving a couple of puzzles in a sitting. If you were stuck on a desert island... While the game definitely has some bad features, the terribly annoying music can be turned down (or off altogether) and bad backgrounds and fonts are only suffered for a minimal time. What matters here is the actual game content and that’s pretty good. Boasting well into 400 puzzles, shallow multiplayer and a few extra modes, this game isn’t anything to get excited about but if you’re looking for an extra puzzle game to add to your collection, you could do plenty... You know those little cardboard puzzles you get in Christmas crackers where you have to fit geometric shapes into a grid? Tedious aren’t they? Well Neves is pretty much a glorified version of those puzzles. But the bizarre thing is that although it looks boring, the premise is boring, and the presence of hundreds of incredibly similar stages threatens boredom on a massive scale, the reality is that this is a simple yet soothing way to spend your time. A great game for all the family, it's a true testament to the developers to create a game that is addictive for practically everybody in the household. Its another one of the casual games that doesn't deserve the casual label because of its truly excellent game play. Whilst not a field of flowers to look out, it has clean lines and chirpy music.
