List All 7 PricesRicoh's follow up to last year's GX100 continues the company's commitment to designing quality compacts combining portability with manual control. Few people carry a DSLR everywhere, so cameras such as this, or Sigma's DP-1 are an ideal pocket alternative. Read more
My own history with Ricoh dates back around thirty years when the first 'real' camera I was allowed to use was my fathers compact 35mm range-finder camera. I was allowed to take it away on a school trip! The results even in my inexperienced hands were good. That experience led to my 18th birthday present of a Ricoh KR10 SLR camera. Over 25 years later I still have that camera along with a couple of Pentax K-mount lenses. Read more
Features & handling Ricoh has made a few important changes to the GX200 when compared to its predecessor, the GX100. Resolution has increased from 10MP to 12MP, in keeping with current D-SLR market trends – clear evidence of Ricoh’s ambition to gain a share of the D-SLR market by attacking it from below with its prestige compacts. However, the sensor is only 1/1.7in rather than the larger APS-C Foveon sensor in rival Sigma’s DP1. Read more
Ricoh might not be one of the biggest names in photography, but it has a long history of camera manufacturing and its compact GR film camera earned a cult following. The GX200 offers the same blend of pocketability and power. Cheaper cameras can match its picture quality, though, so it's the build, handling and features you're paying for Read more
: More and more it seems like you have to buy a Digital SLR in order to get manual controls - not so with the Ricoh GX200 - it features full manual controls and more customisable buttons than most Digital SLRs! With this camera you can have all the great Digital SLR features, without the size, with the GX200 neatly fitting into coat pockets. Where the GX200 can't match a Digital SLR is in image quality - the GX200 shows excessive amounts of noise when used at ISO400 or... Read more
This review is from: Ricoh GX200 with View Finder Kit (Electronics) I was looking for a compact camera which could do good panoramic shots. This is quite a demanding task because it requires a wide angle lens and a very good clear detail at the same time. It could be said that the compact cameras are the last choice of cameras to be used for panorama because of their noise/grain in images when zoomed to 100%, this is the result of the very small sensor usually used in... I wanted a small Point-and-Shoot camera that had more advanced modes and settings that dSLRs sported and came across the Ricoh GX200. I can now carry a camera with me everywhere without worrying about compromising a shot with a cheap P&S. The Slim and lightweight body with Pro Level Specs allows for freedom of carrying heavy gear. A nice compromise when you want to have full control over your shot. Pros: 24-72mm wide-telephoto lens, 12.1 megapixel CCD, Electronic Level,... Read more
