See lessAt first glance the Pentax K200D simply looks like an incremental upgrade of the K100D Super, with relatively few additions on offer apart from the 10 megapixel resolution (up from 6 megapixels) and a couple of new buttons. Thankfully Pentax have also made a substantial number of improvements under the hood that help improve on what was already an excellent camera, borrowing both the sensor and other features from the K10D. The new Sv shooting mode, greatly-improved... Read more
With the K200D, you get ease of use and good performance. But it’s rather bulky and we think it offers far more features than most family members would want or need. If you’re thinking of moving up from a compact, then give the K200D good consideration, but if you’re purely looking for a family camera – go for for the compact option or a super-zoom. Read more
The Pentax K200D is a fine accomplishment: ergonomics are quite excellent (except menus), satisfactory image quality, pleasant optical viewfinder, stabilization, etc. Despite several weaknesses, the K200D is one of the best entry level reflexes. Read more
Not so much sexy as sturdy, this is a workhorse rather than a camera you’ll ever fall in love with Read more
And so, when all is said and done, the K200D straddles a gap between those on a budget and those wanting a feature rich, rugged DSLR and it does it rather well. It is not without flaws and some handling foibles that take getting used to. But when the price and performance overall are looked at and the sheer amount of neat kit the camera has as standard, the K200D is a camera that should be high on your list if you’ve a tight budget and no previous brand lenses sitting... Bought a k10 in '08 and just loved it.Was asked to shoot a neighbors wedding in Aug '08 and needed a second-shooter, so I picked up a K200. It was everything I expected and more.I'm really impressed by the quality of both cameras.I literally don't leave home in the morning without at least one of them. Read more
I have been shooting pictures for over 30 years. I started with the K1000 and have been loyal to pentax ever since. I have used other top brands and feel that they are good, but always find pentax quality and price to be unsupased. From my medium format to 35mm the k200d is the camera I have been waiting for. It is a weather tight rugged work horse at an unbelievable price.I puchased the body only for it is compatable with virtualy all my other equipment. I find the... Read more
It does what I tell it to do even if that's not necessarily what I wanted it to do! I like to shoot in Manual mode (you don't learn much about photography in Auto mode). The K200D enables fully manual shooting but will quickly set to full auto for those times when you need the shot but haven't the time to figure out how to get it yourself. You will most always get an acceptable photo on "auto," but if you want more interesting/artistic images than snapshots, just set it... Read more
I went from the ist*DL to this one. IQ is excellent, and on ISP100/200 there is hardly any difference detectable between raw and jpeg. For travelling, the ability to use AA batteries is a huge bonus over proprietary LIPO batteries and their silly chargers, and non-rechargeable lithiums last for a very long time. Read more
I brought the pentax k200d just under a month ago! and I absolutly love it! Iam doing photography at college so I wanted to get an slr. I was planning on getting a sony one and actually went into pcworld looking to buy the sony d200. I was lucky enough to bump into a photographer who was walking past and advised me not to buy sony as they are not the best make for cameras he then followed to tell me the best brands were Pentax, nikon and canon and sony were no good, that...
