By a strange coincidence it is precisely a year and a day since I reviewed the outstanding Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 , an expensive but immensely capable 18x zoom, 8.1-megapixel super-zoom bridge camera and arguably the best of its type, at least until recently. Read more

Costing exactly the same as its predecessor did on launch, the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 is even more firmly in the firing line of the budget DSLR camera. There's obviously still a market for bridge cameras and so-called 'super zooms' though, with Olympus and Fujifilm also releasing updated versions of their comparable models, the SP-570 UZ and S8100fd respectively, and Nikon hoping to steal their thunder with the Coolpix P80. So it seems that at least someone is... Read more

This is one of the best super zoom cameras. Picture quality is very good and you can get in close with the 18x zoom lens. The DSC FZ28 has an impressive set of features. If you are looking for a super zoom camera add this one to your list. Read more

With its Intelligent Automatic mode, the Panasonic FZ28 will delight anybody looking for an easy-to-use camera that still performs well with 18x zoom and HD video. More demanding users, though, will be disappointed to see that the camera has not really undergone much of an upgrade: its viewfinder is still poor and work remains to be done on the noise management … Read more

The Lumix DCM-FZ28 is over a year old now, but it can more than hold its own against its rivals – and its age means that its price has plummeted. At £65 less than its nearest competitor and over £90 less than the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS, this is the megazoom camera to plump for if you’re on a tight budget. Best of all, its impressive performance means you get a lot for your money. Read more

I spent ages deciding on a new digital non DSLR camera. For me a DSLR is too awkward, carting around extra lenses, a flash, a tripod etc. The Panasonic does everything I need except fish eye pics, and it's considerably cheaper too, the category it fits into is often called "superzoom", for fairly obvious reasons. I have taken about 1500 pics on my camera now and used it in many different ways, from pics of eBay items, to night shots, portraits to landscapes etc. What... Read more

Before I purchased this camera I was using a Canon 10X zoom sure shot. I own a small Panasonic point and shoot which I have been happy with. I purchased this camera because the camera has many features I was looking for like the manual viewfinder and 18X lens. I also enjoy the intelligent setting and anti-shake features. From the time I opened the box I have been relatively unhappy with this camera's performance. It's low light and flash performance are very weak, very... Read more

This is , or was, an excellent camera which was easy to use and produced excellent results on my recent holiday. Sadly, I dropped it getting out of a Mini , so not from a great height but sufficient to damage the shutter button which will no longer operate. I took the camera to a reputable Panasonic repairer who informed me that he could no longer obtain spares for this camera. An email to Panasonic remains unanswered so where do I go from here? Be warned! It is hard to... Read more

  4. Quite a camera!

I bought this camera a few months after breaking my originally and wanted to also at the same time upgrade to something more complicated. I had outgrown my original camera so this was the perfect upgrade, it's easy to use, easy to hold and takes great photos. It's a little better then beginner cameras and looks like a very fancy camera, you don't need to change the lens and it zooms in amazingly! The zoom is excellent, I have sat in my living room and zoomed right up... Read more

(Quick overview) After reading a lot of reviews, the Panasonic Fz-28 came out on top in numerous reviews. One of the things that attracted me to this camera was the 18x optical zoom, yes, 18x! It uses a lithium ion battery that is good for hours of continuous shooting. The features of this camera include: - 27mm wide-angle Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens - 18x optical/4x digital zoom - Various scene modes/ inc 'IA' mode - Manual focus - HD movie/w sound capabilities - Long...
