With its super length zoom lens (18x) there is bound to be a lot of interest in the Panasonic DMC FZ18. I was impressed with the photos it took and it is also one of the most feature laden digital cameras you can buy. Read more

This Panasonic is as much about quality as it is raw power. Images from the 8MP chip are simply superb, making this a safe choice for anyone looking for a competent, all-in-one back-up Read more

Anyone who's interested in photography as a hobby will want a bit more versatility in their camera than is offered by a simple point-and-shoot compact. Many will opt for a digital SLR, but for those whose budgets are a little more restricted, or who don't want the hassle and bulk of a kit bag full of lenses and accessories, there are a number of high-specification super-zoom cameras that offer almost the same level of performance and sophistication. These usually feat... Read more

I cannot fault this camera,I tried various DSLRs after purchasing the Panasonic and there was no difference to my eye in the quality of sharpness etc.Much easier to carry around, fantastic zoom, better than a DSLR,battery lasts a long time, the best camera I have ever tried or ever had,I cannot recommend too highly, you don't need a DSLR with this camera, give yourself a treat and buy one now ! I had been after a Digital SLR for some time, and when the opportunity arose to buy one I did just that. Well, that's not actually technically true. By rights this camera is not a digital SLR, but in fact a compact 'superzoom' camera, it looks like a digital SLR and definitely performs like one though. I had been saving for a while, not really with anything particular in mind to buy at the end of my saving spree, just in the knowledge that if I saved for long enough t... Read more

I use this camera one handed - left at that - and it's light enough to allow me to do that. I'm very grateful for the image stabilization as well. I've bought the additional lenses so now have super macro, mega wide, mega-mega telephoto and it's all very fantastic. I've been using a compact digital camera before this and was constantly frustrated by the 3x zoom. This is a perfect upgrade for me. If there's a downside to this camera, I haven't found it yet. The automatic point and shoot mode with a good anti shake feature make this little camera a joy to use but if you demand manual control that is also there - I love it. It has lots of nice features that I appreciate more every time that I take it out (outdoor sport mode for example). Battery life is also good. At about £230 it is probably not an impulse buy for most people but I highly commend it for the semi-serious photographer who wants a versatile and easy to use c... Read more
