The SP-570 Ultra Zoom from Olympus is the first of the ultra zoom line of models to feature a 10MP resolution, 20x wide-angle optical zoom (26-520mm, 35mm equiv.) with sensor-shift Image Stabilization. The 20x zoom SP-570 UZ is regarded as a replacement for the SP-560 UZ. It weighs at 365 g and measures 116 x 78.5 x 78 mm. The SP-570 UZ was released in March 2008. The SP-570 UZ provides both a wide-angle (for capturing wide landscapes and large groups) as well as a tele reach (for zooming in sports photography). This camera with a 2.7-inch LCD and 230,000 pixels has 47 MB internal storage and accepts xD-Picture Card. Power usage is 4 x AA batteries and Optional AC adapter.
Among its features are the 20x super-telephoto zoom, Face Detection, Live Histogram and the Dual Image Stabilization that combines Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization with high ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speeds. There’s the Manual Exposure and External flash. The external flash can be attached to the Hot Shoe. A CCD with over 10 million pixels, 13.5fps burst rate, HyperCrystal™ LCD, ISO 6400 and the TruePic™ III Image Processor that is developed for professional Digital SLR are all included. File formats are RAW, JPEG Exif v2.21, AVI (Motion JPEG) with WAV audio. The sensor in the SP-570 UZ is 1/2.33" Type CCD, 10.7 million pixels total and 10.0 million effective pixels. Image sizes are 3648 x 2736, 2560 x 1920, 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, VGA 640 x 480, 16:9 1920 x 1080. Movie clips can be shot at 640 x 480 / 30 fps , 640 x 480 / 30 fps. Type of lens are 20x optical zoom, 4.6 -92.0 mm (26 - 520 35 mm equiv), F2.8- F4.5. Conversion lenses are 48.4 mm and the need to use CLA-10 to attach conversion lens. Digital zoom is 5x. Focus modes are Single Autofocus, Face-Detection AF, Predictive AF, Manual focus, Macro, Super Macro. Focus distance are Standard / Macro: 10 cm-infinity (wide), 1.2 m-infinity (tele), Super Macro: 1 cm closest focus distance. AF area modes are TTL iESP auto focus with contrast detection, 143-point selectable spot AF. Ultra Zoom Accessory Kit has three well-known accessories for the Olympus Digital camera. Included are a nylon case, 4 NiMh batteries with overnight charger and a 7" Table Top Tripod.

A camera that plants a foot in both the DSLR and compact digital camp. Its 20x zoom and super macro mode are superb, but handling could be improved and we’re not sure who this camera will ultimately appeal to. Read more
You can't argue with what the Olympus SP-570 UZ can do, only how well it does it. While it looks and feels a cut above the rest, its failings are typical of superzoom compacts in general, including sluggish responses, poor high ISO performance and lens softness at full zoom. In fairness to Olympus I will say that a very good English hard copy manual is included, although the CD software created some system conflicts in my pc. I also found that RAW (ORF) files created in the SP-570 UZ are unsupported by Photoshop and apparently can only be post processed using the Olympus editing software that comes bundled with the camera. I bought this to replace a seven year-old C-2100UZ that is still working great. I figured if I got this kind of usage from Olympus then I'd stay with them for the new camera . I looked at the SP-560 and the SP-570 and decided to go the SP-570 route. The camera menu stayed much the same as the C-2100, so the learning curve was fairly low.
