Harder than a Phil Mitchell/Hulk Hogan tag team, this 12-megapixel snapper can withstand almost anything the elements can chuck at it – but is it equally impressive in the photo department? Read more
The Myu Tough 8000 is an extension of Olympus' collection of all-terrain cameras and it's definitely a step in the right direction, with a wide-angle lens, better grip and more responsiveness. It still lags behind land-based digital cameras, but good performance underwater wins it an extra star. Read more
This is a robust digital camera at home around water or on the ski slopes. It is also drop proof and crush proof. It takes a good picture and is worth a good look if you are after a digital camera anyone in the family can use. Read more
The bottom line: For going from snorkeling to rock climbing to everyday life, the Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 is a good choice, though its photos and performance can be disappointing. Read more
The Olympus μTough-8000 is the ideal companion for photographers with an active outdoor life. Designed to be used both underwater and for normal photography, the μTough-8000 is waterproof down to 10 meters and even has a built-in pressure gauge that indicates its actual depth. The camera is shock-proof against drops onto hard surfaces from a height of up to 2 meters, and those who enjoy winter sports will find they can use the camera in temperature of minus 10°C. Many... excellent camera, picture is great, zoom options are fab I bought this for my boyfriend and i ended up keeping it as it is a good little camera. the size of the camera is not too big, it fits great in your handbag. I did drop it once and the scratches make it look like i dragged it across the ground. Overall, it is a very reliable camera with long lasting battery and high zoom options. Love the camera and will recommend it to anyone!!! great for a christmas gift. I will... Read more
I bought this camera for my white water rafting trip in the Grand Canyon and was not disappointed. It proved to be waterproof through 12 days of rapids, was dropped into a pool of water and also banged against many rocks as I hiked into the side canyons. I've also used it in the sea when snorkelling and for general sight seeing pictures in the city etc. The picture quality is good, and its easy to use. The battery life is excellent and the camera charges in about 2... Read more
works if you keep it away from water. My swimming shorts are more waterproof then this camera. I brought one to take on my honey moon. I tested it and it broke in the water... I exchanged for another one... went on my honeymoon and it broke the same way the first time i went snorkeling! I have been around cameras my whole life and Im sticking to cannon. This was a total waste of money and ruined the pictures from my underwater adventures.. Read more
This review is from: Olympus Mju Tough 8000 Compact Digital Camera - Platinum Silver (12MP, 3.6x Wide Zoom) 2.7 inch LCD (Electronics) I really liked the look of this camera, but several of the reviews here report of leakage underwater which has put me off. If others are also like me and stalling in their purchase, then this is to let you know that this week Olympus have announced the release of their latest model - the Tough 3000 - due to come out in March/April 2010. I... Read more
I will leave the extensive assessment to others. This is my third Olympus Stylus Tough camera -- my first was an older model, and my second is at the bottom of the Connecticut River (darn!). I use it while kayaking, skiing and snorkeling. Some people have commented that this camera does not take the BEST quality photos, but they are missing the point. It takes very good photos where you'd never bring another camera. When I snorkle I dive down as far as I can manage --... Read more
