Olympus E-510 digital camera
Reviewer: Vnunet15 October 2007- Overall 10

Literally the bigger brother of the current E-410 DSLR, the E-510’s chief advantage is that any lens attached becomes immediately stabilised. The lack of this feature wasn’t a noticeable omission on the E-410, so whether you spend that extra £100 largely comes down to whether you prefer the E-510’s more rounded build and so more comfortable handling. Many DSLR vendors are streamlining their offerings to appeal to novices; in the process, they strip out features or skimp on quality. Olympus is taking a different tack. With the Olympus Evolt E-510, you get a full-featured DSLR with more advanced features than just about any similarly priced camera. Olympus E-510
Reviewer: eisa-awards.org13 August 2007The Olympus E-510 is a digital SLR with excellent image quality and some clear advantages over the rest of the market. The camera is compact and light, but with its large handgrip it is comfortable to hold. Anti-dust and mechanical image stabilisation systems are both invaluable benefits for the amateur photographer. The Live-View-function isn't suitable for action photography, but it works very well with less kinetic subjects. Read more

When I first tried this new Olympus E-510 DSLR last week, I was initially puzzled by some of the noises it was making, which is unusual for me. I’ve been reviewing digital cameras for about ten years, and in that time I’ve handled and used hundreds of different cameras, from the earliest sub-megapixel snapshot models to the latest professional digital SLRs. I’m not bragging here (OK, maybe just a little), I’m just trying to explain that I’m pretty familiar with digita... Read more

DSLR Buying Advice
Reviewer: David Coombes "Dave", Amazon3 weeks ago- Overall 10

If looking for a sub £500 here are my two recommendations which in my opinion best their competitors. They both have Image Stabilisation internally. Therefore if you do not require this feature, they might not be the best buy for you. 1. Pentax K10D. 2. Olympus E-510. Pentax K10D Metal body (710grams), APS-C sensor 23.5 x 15.7. The Pentax has excellent build quality and is dustproofed. It has a better viewfinder and slightly better image quality than the E-510. Howeve... Read more
