The Nikon D90 is a difficult camera to rate. When viewed as a 'traditional' SLR, it is simply an excellent camera that I very much enjoyed using. All the frequently used functions have direct controls assigned to them, be it aperture, shutter speed, ISO speed, file quality, drive mode, AF mode, AE Lock you name it. Despite being a relatively complex camera, the D90 proved highly intuitive to use. The extra functions that distinguish it from the D80, such as... Read more
Not only is the D90 the long-successor to a best-selling DSLR, it's also the first on the market that offers video. Eagerly anticipated for at least two reasons, then, it will surely thrill even the most demanding photographers, despite one or two tricky menus and poorly-positioned buttons. Read more
An outstanding successor to the D80, with the bonus of HD video Read more
Too expensive for snapshots, but brilliant value for keen amateur photographers Good points Total control over every aspect of each image, huge screen, video mode Bad points Kit lens is average, scene modes not needed on a camera of this type Read more
Like the D80 before it, the Nikon D90 delivers an excellent dSLR for the money. It's the first digital SLR camera with video recording, which is great, especially since it's shot in 1,280x720-pixel motion JPEG at 24fps, giving it a cinematic, high-definition look. You can also shoot video with any lens, which yields interesting effects Read more
Its true what they say about cameras, you do get what you pay for. This Nikon follows in the steps of its genealogy and takes the best pictures regardless of your experience. I have taken my to seven different countries and have the memories on disc to remember each one with. I have never changed a setting - just point and click. Read more
I replaced my Nikon D80 with the Nikon D90 and am amazed how much better it is. It gives amazing detail at ISO 3200! I was very close to buying the very good Nikon D300s but after much research decided I didn't want a much heavier camera that cost $1000.00 more! The D90 has Active Digital Lighting which automatially adjusts the contrast and shadow detail. Like all of the settings the ADL is adjustable by the user, select auto, normal, high, off. Also the menus offer... Read more
This review is from: Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera 18-105 VR Kit (Electronics) I bought this after reading the reviews most of which talked highly of the camera. I bought this just before going to Spain for a holiday. It did not take much time to learn how to use it. Use the automatic to point and shoot first and get used to the camera gadgets later. The pictures are stunning and sharp. This is my first DSLR after using compacts for a long time. I used to have a 35mm... Read more
The camara is really good. If you really like taking pictures, go for D90. Also, if you can spend a little more, choose the 18-200mm lens. So with one just lens you have 11.1X of zoom. Read more
I originally bought this camera with an interest in pursuing photography as a hobby/side business. This camera has done nothing but impress me. Its capabilities are astounding and I literally have not taken a bad picture with it. The pictures come out of the camera needing little to no editing and the LCD screen on the back is such high quality that it gives you a very good idea of whether you got a good shot or not. Amatuer or professional - this camera will... Read more
