It’s never wise to alter a successful formula. So rather than reinvent the hugely successful S9500, the new S9600 sees the introduction instead of some carefully-chosen improvements. Improving LCD …
Owners of the older S9500 will be hard pressed to spot the changes to the new model, as it's housed in the same bullet-proof black chassis that will cause casual observers to mistake it for an SLR. Despite its bulk, the S9600 feels great in the hand, and as mentioned, you're making a significant weight saving by not having to carry around extra lenses. Read more
The Fuji Finepix S9600 bears a very close resemblance to a digital SLR camera. It is aimed at the serious photographer and has a wide range of features. I was impressed by my test results and the Finepix S9600 is well worth considering. It offers good value for money. Read more
The Fujifilm Finepix S9600 is an excellent super-zoom compact digital compact camera. The Fujifilm Finepix S9600 is a cheaper but poorer alternative to an entry-level digital SLR camera. The Fujifilm Finepix S9600 is only a minor upgrade of the older S9500 model. All of these statements are true of the S9600. The S9600 is Fujifilm's best attempt ... Read more
It may not be perfect, but the Fujifilm FinePix S9600 is a solid and versatile all-rounder. It's well worth a look if you’re not ready to buy a digital SLR. Read more

Not as good as reviews would have you belive, when viewed at 100% pics are not that sharp (have noticed this on most fuji super ccd cameras since), startup time is fast ,it handles nicely, RAW is very slow(7-10 secs between shots). Zooms is good ISO 80 to 200 acceptable, above this it does get noisy, ISO 1600 is a joke as is the anti shake option. A dedicated external f... Read more
This S9600 was my first proper digital camera, I still own it but I moved up to better cameras, but only because I needed the extra zoom and closer macro, this camera did everything right and even a couple things better than my 4x more expensive new one, the noise is well under control, focus is very good (not manual) image quality and resolution was great, but it seems like it would choose low shutter speeds in daylight and make things too bright when left to think f... I was given this camera for Christmas and thought that I would wait a few weeks before writing any kind of a review.... This camera is truely excellent. The features that allow you to control the picture mean that almost every conceivable option is included. I must also say that the auto-focusing is probably the best I have ever had the pleasure to use. Although there is manual focussing available, I don't seem to do it as well as the auotmatic function. One suggestio... Read more
Addendum 2: I have discovered that even though this camera boasts 9 MP, the CCD is actually quite small. This is necessary in order to accommodate the large zoom range, but unfortunately this means that the demands placed on the optics of the lens are therefore quite high and any aberrations show up quite easily. I have noticed a lot of blurring and 'fringing' in areas of high contrast. The overall impact of the images is less impressive than the output of my 6 MP Pen... Read more
