Canon PowerShot SX100 IS

The Canon PowerShot SX100 IS was announced on 20th August, 2007. It is a digital camera that is featured with 8.0 megapixel image sensor and 10x optical zoom lens with Image Stabilization. The material of its body is plastic and it is weighed at 266g (excluding battery) with the dimension of 108.7 x 71.4 x 46.7mm. Canon PowerShot SX100 IS comes with a 2.5 inch low-temperature polycrystalline silicon TFT colour LCD screen with a large mode dial. It does not have a eye level viewfinder. The camera is equipped with DIGIC III Image Processor that works together with iSAPS, a scene-recognition technology which is developed for Canon’s digital cameras. It is powered with two AA NiMH batteries. The camera is available in the market with the choices of silver or black colour.

Features

There is a Face Detection feature which is enhanced with Face Select and Track function implemented in Canon PowerShot SX100 IS that is capable of detecting up to nine faces in a scene. Such functionality is linked with exposure system to ensure correct metering of portraits. Besides that, the digital camera is packed with the feature of Digital Tele-Converter that adds a constant zoom at about 1.6x to 2.0x to every shot. It also comes with Safety Zoom feature which works to protect images captured from interpolation at high levels of digital zoom. Red-Eye Correction is incorporated in the playback mode where it identifies and digitally removes red-eye from captured images. The camera offers a range of ISO Sensitivity from 80 up to 1600. Relating to that, it comes with the option of Auto ISO Shift and optical Image Stabilizer. With the purpose of resizing the image captured so as to fit into blogs, email attachment or online galleries, users are able to downsize them with Image Resize function. Canon PowerShot SX100 IS stores its images in SD, SDHC and MMC memory cards and supports the new MMCplus and HC MMCplus formats as well for the capacity up to 32GB.
