This tiny camera has ideas above its station, but it is expensive. Read more
Serious photographic control and performance in a compact body, albeit at a price Read more
Without revolutionizing its class, Canon offers an expert compact that is rather nice to use and equipped with interesting functions; RAW mode, stabilized lens, and a large screen. It’s just unfortunate that there is no true wide angle and noise control is a bit shaky at 800 ISO and above. Read more
And so, the upgrade of the G7 that is the Canon PowerShot G9 has been fixed – to a degree. It’s the same price as the G7 at £330, so not cheap, but no more expensive and it is a better camera. The lens is sharp and crisp but could still do with the faster apertures of the G6 from a few years back with its impressive F/2.0 to F/3.0 maximum aperture range. Nevertheless, in terms of control, features and build, the G9 is a cracker; image quality and performance are... Read more

As an amateur photographer, when looking for a camera, I first set out for a DSLR. I found this Canon PowerShot G9 camera thanks to CNET and, after reading a couple reviews decided to start with that. As I ordered it, I felt somewhat deceived of my choice, this lasted until I opened the box. I have now had this camera for over a Year and I've had a GREAT time with this camera (i've hiked through the alps and traveled on a couple of continents with this camera. sample... Read more
Photography is one of my few serious hobbies. Late last year, I bought myself the newest Semi-Professional SLR Canon had to offer -- the EOS 40D. The 40D has traveled almost everywhere with me around the city since then, but it felt like a couple things were missing. I can't take my 40D everywhere. It's a large camera and I need to bring around a separate bag of equipment with it. What I needed was a camera that offered top notch picture quality that I could truly bring... Read more
Summary: This is a great camera if you want to improve in photography, it is also a good secondary camera Read more
This review is from: Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera - Black (12.1MP, 6x Optical Zoom) 3.0 inch LCD (Electronics) I'll make this short and sweet as the other reviews have all the technical stuff. If you dont want to carry a heavy DSLR around with you all day and a bag full of lenses BUT do want top quality digital photos then get a Canon G9 - there are newer models out - Canon G10 and G11 but these are overpriced and slightly larger. You can get a G9 at a very... Read more
The G9 has been a solid performer with no problems so far. I purchased a 4GB SDHC card to go with it and the pictures are breathtaking. It does have more options for tailoring your pictures so it is not for the true point-and-shoot crowd. I wanted a rangefinder camera and that is what this is designed for. Read more
