The 8 MP PowerShot A720 IS packs a powerful punch in an affordable package. Be creative with features that give you as much control as you want, like ISO 1600 and a 6x zoom with optical Image Stabi…
Except for high noise levels (which can be reduced by sticking to lower ISOs), the image quality is impressive. The features list is long and includes usable functions, so it may appear that Canon has a winner on its hands. Well, almost. The RRP of £179 is at the steep end for an 8Mp camera of this specification. But shop around and you may get a bargain on the Canon PowerShot A720 IS. Read more

It's been a while since I've taken a look at any of Canon's A-series cameras. What with the popular and fashionable IXUS range, the very successful range of digital SLRs, the wonders of the S5 IS super-zoom and the semi-pro PowerShot G9, not to mention the new Read more

"If you would like a digital camera with manual controls, extra lens length, image stabilisation, a viewfinder and a fairly low price then it could be the Canon Powershot A720 IS. There is a lot built into the camera for the money and the picture quality it produces is top notch. Recommended." Read more
Sharp pictures with good colour depth and clarity. I use Extreme III 4gb SD card and response time from shutter to capture is excellent. I like it because I can play around with the settings a bit and the wife loves it's point and shoot simplicity. Couldn't find a competitor to it in terms of VFM with 6x zoom and viewfinder. Can't recommend it enough. Read more
I've had mine for a few months now and really enjoy it. This is my 7th digital camera. I sold a Canon SLR and got this one as I couldn't get on with the large size but still wanted something that felt substantial. As it uses AA's it gives it the extra weight I want. The zoom isn't as high as my SLR but the macro setting is better and I take more of the close-ups. I like the flash level can be adjusted which wasn't available on a Panasonic I had and greatly needed. The... Read more
This is my 2nd digital cameras after my old Sony Cybershot T1 decided to pack up. I don't realy know much about photography so the digital camera must be easy to use. The auto mode of this canon A720 takes very good quality picture most of the times. I never read the User Manual yet I am still able to get good photo quality under speical conditions like the dark street by simply move the dial on the top to change mode. This is a very satisfactory purchase for me. Read more
