The Canon PowerShot A470 is an amazing Digital Camera. It is not that expensive and is affordable to everyone. It offers better performance. It produces good pictures. Canon tries to give the A470 a much-needed injection of style by offering four colour choices which are blue, grey, orange and red. Unfortunately, colourful accents can’t hide the camera’s chunky, unattractive design. It is featured with an SD card and two AA batteries. It measures 104mm long, 56mm tall, and more than 40mm thick. Hence, the camera is 38-to-132mm-equivalent. It has a 3.4x optical zoom. The 115,000-pixel screen is the only method of framing your shot, and can be difficult to use on sunny days. You won’t find much in the way of controls on the A470, but adjustable ISO, exposure controls and manual white-balance settings offer some flexibility when shooting. It features the standard handful of scene preset modes, plus a movie mode that can record QVGA (320x240-pixel) movies at 30 frames per second, or VGA (640x480-pixel) movies at a slower-than-usual 20fps. The A470 includes face-detecting autofocus and auto-exposure, an increasingly popular feature that’s still surprising to find on such an inexpensive model. Reviewers from reviews.cnet.co.uk stated that it has a fast and good performance. Moreover, it has proved to have fast shot in just a few seconds. It has a great image quality and the images looked fantastic. The colours look generally neutral. It also produces good-looking prints.

All in all, the Canon PowerShot A470 is a good no-frills camera at a rock-bottom price, with an easy learning curve. A three-year-old can take good pictures with the Canon PowerShot A470, so you can, too. Read more

I wanted to buy a camera that would take AA batteries rather than come with rechargeable batteries for 2 reasons. Firstly rechargeable batteries loose their capacity over time & secondly when I go on holiday I dont want to take the charger with me which adds weight. With AA batteries you have the option of buying disposable batteries & just throw them away after using them thus saving you weight on holiday. The camera itself is very good. Size wise its not the slimmest... Read more
