Long-time Canon fans will love the 1Ds because it handles like other Canons and has the colour and tonal reproduction they’re used to. Impressive as it is, though, the 1Ds has shortcomings that Nikon’s D3 has illuminated very clearly. Read more

Features & Handling The Canon 1Ds Mark III’s most outstanding asset is its 21MP CMOS sensor. Put simply, this makes it the highest resolution D-SLR around. Other than this full-frame sensor, everything else is very similar to the EOS-1D Mark III. Read more

This is by far the best camera I have ever owned along with the 1D MK III, the build quality is superb as is the ergonomic design, but the greatest attributes of this camera have got to be the speed of the autofocusing and the extremely low noise high ISO performance, its advantages over the 1D MK III are the extra wide angle with the full frame sensor and the higher resolution for larger prints and you have one great camera which is well worth the price. This review is from: Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) (Electronics) I have been a professional photographer since 1983 using Canon cameras (AE1, T90, EOS 1 and a Mamiya RZ 67. I Beta tested the Canon AF system with the 620 back in 1987 and on my recommendation changed the picture desk at the newspaper I was working form Nikon to Canon. Since then I have professionally used a EOS 620, 650, D30, (not 30D) 1D, 1DMk2 and my latest, the £6,000 1D Mk3.... Read more

I've had this camera for several weeks now and have been consistently been amazed by its capabilities. The image quality is extraordinary. I've been using it with a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens and have yet to be disappointed. The Mark III is complex enough that it prompted me to read the instruction manual, as well as another book ("Magic Lantern Guides: Canon EOS-1D Mark III EOS-1Ds Mark III"), from cover to cover - something I've never...
