Summary: I purchased this camera from a well known high street retailer for £50.00..( in a sale ) I wasn't expecting too much by way of performance at this price... "It met all my expectation's.., although I kept coming back to it..,time and time again..,just hoping that maybe, this time it would give a good result..." Sadly it never did... This camera is pretty much useless in every sense of the word... Colours are really unnatural..
Summary: I find this camcorder wonderful. I purchased a similar, but bigger version for work, but settled on this version for my personal use and after a 4 week holiday I was not disappointed. The light makes a huge difference and is a wonderful addition, helping in low or uneven lighting conditions. I have some wonderful night shots as well as videos taken indoors in very poor lighting.
Summary: bought this for four reasons - up and coming daughters wedding - for use by my wife (so she can carry it in her habdbag) - good price - good reviews to say I was dissapointed is an understatement, but I shouldn't have been surprised as it was a Toshiba. Toshiba always seem to go off 'half-cocked', never getting it quite right, in my opinion they are a second division player. The HD recording is unwatchable. True the picture quality is good but it is unbelievably jerky.
Summary: I got the camcorder, and it worked fine until I inserted my newly bought 8GB memory card. I couldn't take pictures or video, and I couldn't even turn it off. I'm currently looking into formatting the memory card, but it is simply not acceptable that the camera gets into such a state. As others have mentioned, the video quality isn't really that good, especially in low lighting conditions.
Summary: The picture in good light is excellent provided you can hold it still (I use two hands, one on the handle, one on the screen), but then it comes with a mini tripod as standard which may help for some shots. The auto focus is effective in good light, if a little slow after using the easily controlled 5x optical zoom. There are two major problems with this unit, and one minor.
Summary: I would only buy this camera if: 1. You are not planning to do much low-light filming. It is OK indoors on a bright day, but as soon as the sun goes down, this camera is next to useless. Apparently all cameras at this price point suffer from the same problem. 2. You don't mind tinkering with video editing software to remove the shakes (there is no optical image stabilisation built in, and the electronic stabilisation is only selecteable at the lower HD resolution).
Summary: after reading other reviews I did wonder if product would for me. When a neatly package arrived I was impressed with quality. Then after a short 2hr charge was able to take photos. Even got a macro setting and the quality is much better than expected. OK when in movie mode you cannot expect to pan without blurring. Thats a small handycap the photos are brillant. Its like anything else practice makes perfect.
Summary: My wife and I decided to get a camcorder to capture some footage of our baby which is due soon. I picked this camcorder and my wife got it me for Christmas. I took it on a 4 day skiing trip to France, and found the battery life to be awful. Not sure if the cold affected it or not, but my fried had a Kodak HD camera and that was fine. I got about 6 or 7 minutes of footage over 4 days with 3 or 4 charges as the battery went flat every day.
Pros: Good price
Cons: Fiddly to hold and operate. Battery life is awful !!!
