Summary: I bought this camcorder for a recent holiday having owned many Mini-DV camcorders before. These were getting too bulky to travel with and needed camera bags etc. Having done various bits of reading I stumbled upon this from Sony. Sony TG3 High Definition Digital Camcorder Although an older model, now replaced by the TG-7 Sony Handycam HDR-TG7VE - Camcorder - High Definition - Widescreen Video Capture - 2.36 Mpix - optical zoom: 10 x - flash card this was better priced...
Summary: I hesitated between this item and the Sanyo equivalent. I used it for 3 months at which point the shutter failed to open and therefore I was unable to use at all. It was send back to Amazon who replaced it with a brand new one, great service there! Hopefully this one will last longer, as I paid the extra money to get the brand and quality that should go with it....it has great specs and can hold a lot of HD video in the memory card, it is of a great mini size etc.
Summary: What a fantastic product, easy to use, well made, great video quality, easy to connect to a mac and easy to edit with. I would certainly recommend it to anyone. Now for the picky stuff. In order to make this a balanced review I've tried my hardest to think of things that could have been improved with this camera. Firstly you can't get an underwater case for it (which is strange as you can for almost any other Sony).
Grab it, grab it! With hands or a bargepole, grab it!

Summary: Sony's HDR-TG3E camera is a stunning hand held device. I use footage downloaded in its original format, and freely intercut with MPEG footage from my larger Sony video camera (HVR-A1E), without any problems. The secrets, for me at least, are, edit mixed or unmixed footage with PowerDirector. Be sure you have a reasonably powerful PC with lots of storage. Be prepared to spend reasonable money on these items and you will be enchanted with the final result.
Summary: This is probably one of the worst purchases I've ever made. The Camcorder is fine, easy to use, small, compact and does what it says on the tin. It plays fine on my flat screen TV and computers. But unfortunately if you want to transfer files and edit them it seems that unless you throw a heck of a lot of money at the problem you're not going to be able to do it.
Summary: Make sure you read thoroughly before you purchase, the Camera does do 1920 x 1080, but it is interlaced and not porgressive (1080i, not 1080p) Which is something I missed but, it is not obviously advertised. Also the format is AVHCD, which will not play in most players. Does not come with a mini HDMI cable ,but otherwise and overall good product.
Summary: Sony TG3 High Definition Digital Camcorder A really great piece of kit easy to use and great results .It is a pity that it only comes with a 4gb card for this price Sony could put in a larger one
Summary: I have owned this camcorder for about 8 months now and it is the best investment i have purchased for some time. It is small enough to fit in your pocket and take anywhere. The HD footage is stunning and it also records in 5:1 surround sound. The free editing software is rubbish, so after some time messing with various other free trial software, the best one that works for me is nero 8.
