Choosing a new camcorder I was concerned with just one thing, best picture quality for the money. I was torn between a cheaper Panasonic 3CCD camera and the Sony. I bought the Panasonic and swapped! I got the "black screen of death" a month or two after the warranty expired. This is a problem in which newly filmed videos and pictures are 100% black but the camera can still play back previously filmed videos. Sony refused to extend the warranty. I don't see how they can justify charging a premium with these reliability problems. Read more

Just ran the HC3 thru its paces - and worked great recording and outputing via firewire. I shot 3 hours of video and inputed all of it without any glitches. Works better than my newer HC9. Read more
Straight to the point - bought one would not connect to computer, I went out and bought another computer, still would not connect. Tried everything poss in the camcorder forums - loads of people are having same problem. In my opinion, DONT BOTHER - GO OUT AND GET ONE THAT WILL CONNECT. Read more
