The Panasonic NV-GS75 is a top-loading, mid-range DV 3CCD camcorder with features designed to please the beginner videographer. The NV-GS75 has a lot in common with the other models in this line, however it is without any AV-inputs, but it has an impressive 540,000 pixels resolution which offers much better resolution than the others. Design wise, this camcorder is similar to the other top-loading models, with the handgrip and main control buttons on the right side. The camcorder handles well, the main power on/off switch, menu button and function dial located at the thumb rest position. The quick-start button provides simple automatic recording control with the main record button set off independent of the function dial, accented by the joystick which controls the VCR playback and assists menu navigation; an ingenious system that provides superb tape playback control.

Generally speaking this camcorder is a credit to the manufacturer; the video image and sound quality are very good indeed. The zoom is accurate and smooth, using the small rocker placed where the right forefinger is placed. However the manual control features are sparse and most disappointing was the 1.7 megapixel digital stills functionality, which enables the writing of JPEG images at 1520 and 640 resolution to an optional SD card, but even at the highest quality setting, the resolution of the images were extremely poor. USB2.0 connectivity and image software enables PC and Mac users to import images into their favourite application and images can be imported into iPhoto with ease. The camcorder can be used as a web cam producing compressed M-JPEG movies at a resolution of 320x240 pixels with a frame rate of 6fps. Although there are some deficiencies, for everyday video recording by a novice it is a good choice.
