The Panasonic HDC-TM80 is a camcorder that is designed in a 193g/51.5 x 59.0 x 109.0 mm form factor that features a 16GB built-in memory and expandability via SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card. It is powered by a 1/5.8-type MOS image sensor that provides up to 1.30 megapixel image stills (16:9 aspect ratio) and 1.12 megapixels - 1.30 megapixels [16:9] video pixel. The Panasonic HDC-TM80 features Panasonic Lens with F1.8 (WIDE) / 4.0 (TELE) f value, 34x optical zoom, 2.38-81.0mm focal length, supports 1400 lx standard illumination, HYBIRD O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization), white balance adjustment, 1/25-1/8000 shutter speed, up to 42x intelligent zoom, 90x / 2000x digital zoom, Backlight Compensation, 16GB of internal memory and a 2.7" Wide LCD ( 230,400 dots) advanced touch-screen display that support Touch Zoom where users can zoom in or out with the touch or swipe of the finger and Touch Shutter where the camcorder focuses and takes a digital photo with the user touching the subject on the screen display. The Panasonic HDC-TM80 supports simultaneous recording of still images and video, Dolby Digital (2ch) sound via its microphone, and features interfaces such as HDMI, USB 2.0 HI-Speed, media remaining indication, AV multi and LED video light. It comes with an AC Adaptor, AC cable, DC cable, a 1790 mAh / Lithium-Ion rechargeable batter, AV multi Cable, USB Cable, HD Writer AE 3.0 software and stylus pen.

The Panasonic HDC-TM80 is a camcorder that features Intelligent Zoom which support resolution technology and the Crystal Engine PRO for ultra-telephoto Intelligent Zoom shooting which exceed the magnification range of the optical zoom of up to 42x zoom. It also features a wide-angle lens and HYBRID O.I.S. optical/electrical image stabilization system that reduces blurring when it detects vertical/horizontal movement and corrects them using a lens in the optical system and a sensor in electrical system. An electrical image stabilization then utilizes an unused area of the sensor when zooming to suppress image degradation; Zoom Mic which also reduces the surrounding noise to about 1/3 (-10 dB; Wind Noise Canceller which automatically detects and suppresses only wind noise; iA (Intelligent Auto) with six functions: Face Recognition, new HYBRID O.I.S., AF/AE Tracking, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Detection and Intelligent Contrast Control that detects shooting conditions and automatically adjust settings for optimized images.
