wind cut

Hi, just bought this beast of a camcorder. My God its some cam.only one fault and thats wind cut. Its absolutely terrible. I am wondering if I insert an external mike does it cut off the internal mike. If it does it might be a solution. PPPPPPPPPPPlease help.JOhn M.
