A little on the showy side, this camera is bound to leap out and get you. Its design is nothing short of bling-bling and attracts the showy crowd. However, if you consider yourself a well reserved individual there is nothing that says you can’t have a little bling-bling yourself. And if you’re going to get it you might as well get it in a useful product. While this one isn’t top of the line in performance, it delivers exactly what it boasts. However, if you consider yourself a well reserved individual there is nothing that says you can’t have a little bling-bling yourself. And if you’re going to get it you might as well get it in a useful product. While this one isn’t top of the line in performance, it delivers exactly what it boasts. The menus are coupled with icons making it easy to use and each of the control buttons perform three operations each depending on what mode the camera is in, including the fast forward/reverse doubling as navigational keys to guide you through the onscreen menu.
The folks at JVC had a purpose behind the body design thinking about the consumer and the ease with which we like to interact with our products. The slim body enables the user to either slip their hand into the strap or grasp the camera around the body for more stability. It does sport a little weight and JVC knew some of us would need the option of grabbing the camera firmly without interfering with the production of our video. Although the LCD screen doesn’t pivot up or down it makes up for that with its 25x power zoom which is much more powerful than its other brand counterpart. Because it has an 8MB MMC Card, it can simultaneously record video and take still shots. With its built-in wipes and fades (nine of them!) you can make your video take on Power-Point qualities; just like they do in Hollywood! The verdict for this camera make not rank so high, depending of course on the user, but for the money, it is a fine investment. Get your new D270 and head for the big screen.

Digitaldirect.com have it for an amazing £285.96 inc VAT and even a free extra battery plus £9.99 post and packing that brings it to exactly the same price as SoundandVisiononline.com at £295.95 that includes the free battery and p&p. Finding the full price is always difficult but close to £450 seems likely. Read more
This lightweight compact JVC GR-D290 camera is excellent. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out how to use it. You can take still digital pictures as well as video. The monitor quality is excellent and the easy controls allow for decent recordings. You will need to invest in a stronger battery though as the 1 hr supplied is used up in no time. altogether though a good little camera at under £300. Read more
I got this camcorder because the manual said you could transfer streaming video via usb 2.0. Well, you can't and apparently JVC have admitted this. But I purchased a firewire card and cable here for £17.50 + vat http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=CS10649&N=411 and absolute success 1st time plugged in. The camcorder itself is excellent and I have not even started to use the many features. Read more
Replaced another JVC mini DV camcorder with this one. The other one was more expensive and more complicated with tiny buttons and things that anyone over 30 would have difficulty seeing no less someone with fingers larger than a child's could operate. I sold it for this one and the size is a bit larger, easier for a man to hold in his hands. The picture quality is great. I have had no trouble in direct sunlight or dark areas. All of the menu buttons are easy to find,... Read more
