Awesome 1080 picture if you don't need..

Noah Clark, B&H Photo
21 September 2014
  • Excerpt: Just bought this camera 3 days ago and shot a commercial with it today. First things first… Picture quality is great! No moire pattern on ties, flexible ISO with greatly reduced noise and proper XLR inputs. I was a little worried as I normally shoot bigger commercials on Epic or Arri but I was really after a camera I could use on smaller budget commercials. A couple of problems right out of the gate though.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality
  • Cons: No 709 Output Over Sdi, No Slow Motion, No Waveform Over Sdi

Works great

  • Excerpt: This has been our go-to camera for our documentary work. We have DSLR's as our second camera's but having a central all in one camera is the best case scenario. Having on board audio and scopes have brought back the industry standard to small camera bodies. Having interchangeable lenses has helped quite a bit with various locations and scenes, depth of field and low light situations.
  • Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound

Great documentary camera

Jesse, B&H Photo
3 March 2014
  • Excerpt: I use this for documentary storytelling. We primarily use 5D Mark III's but they are first and foremost still cameras. This camera is now the center of all my shoots with built-in audio and proper scopes. My HDSLR's are now my 2nd angles. We got the EOS mount so we can use our library of EOS lenses. The button layout is nearly the same as our DSLR's as well and made for an easy adjustment for some of our crew. It took no time for our people to know exactly how to use it.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Large Clear LCD

  • Excerpt: After year of using and owning soley Canon Products like the the XL1, XL2, XF 300, and now the Canon C300, I love the controls, I like the quality of color, and the features. If you are in business to make money canon has never let me down and always gave me a "High Quality, Professional Images".

Wowwy Wow Wow with Wow Sauce

  • Excerpt: After renting this camera several times for projects, I never really had a chance to explore all of the features and customize it to be the functioning field camera I wanted. Now that I own one and have had that time (albeit, not much time), I couldn't be happier. Used the C300 on a Coke commercial and I was shocked every night when I graded the footage. I do think the camera is a bit overpriced (maybe by $3000), but not much.

  • Excerpt: This is a great camera. Easy to use and in very high demand on my productions. Cuts together great with other cameras. Called Canon for some help on loading scene files and the service was excellent. Went straight to a person who knew what they were talking about. Very happy! Only complaint is no internal mic for nat sound.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
  • Cons: Needs An Internal Mic

We keep buying more

  • Excerpt: We have been using the C-300 on a few of our projects here for television broadcast. Sometimes it is used as the only camera and some projects we have 5 of them shooting multicam. The lenses are swappable with our other Canon cameras (5D), which meant we didn't have to buy a new complement of lenses. It's small and compact, has audio inputs and on board LCD.
  • Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality

Great all-around camera

  • Excerpt: Though the specs are lacking, this camera can shoot anything, as long as you don't need 1080p slow motion...... Other than that, the latitude this camera's image displays is amazing. ISO up to 80,000 too if you have to get the shot no matter what. C-Log is great for professional color grading, but is no match for an amateur color grader in my opinion w/ it's blues. I also love that the viewfinder is back and is great for daytime shooting when dealing with harsh sunlight.

THE BOSS

  • Excerpt: I have the C100, great camera for events, weddings, etc., but needed this C300 for shooting football from the sidelines. How does one describe the best camera he's ever had, shot. Quick, accurate, incredible, accurate shots I get shooting 60p. Great wedding camera to go along with my C100 at 24p. Expensive, yes, BUT, you get what you pay for. No regrets buying this one. Would do it all over again. Just read the specs and see what you get, then buy it.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Large Clear LCD
