Nettops haven't seen the same level of publicity heaped upon netbooks. This is largely due to the fact that, when stripped down, most nettops literally are netbooks in disguise. Only dual-core Atom processors have really provided any meaningful differentiation between the two, but what we and others have been holding out for was nVidia's much vaunted ION platform. And now we have what we wanted in the form of the first ION powered nettop, the Acer Aspire Revo. Read more

Nvidia’s Ion platform makes perfect sense here, but Atom, at least the single-core version, has no obvious place in a mains-powered nettop PC. Still, the Revo is cheaper and sexier than its nearest rival, Asus' HDMI-equipped Eee Box B206 . Still too pricey at £250? We say get the £150 one with Linux and an 8GB SSD, while stocks last. ® Read more

This ‘net-top’ computer is about as powerful as most ‘netbook’ or mini-notebook computers. It’s not designed for gaming or high-powered tasks such as video editing, but for office and internet usage it’s ideal. The computer uses an Intel Atom N230 processor, with 2GB of memory and a 160GB hard disk. That is better than most netbooks, but only slightly, and it’s counterbalanced the power-hungry Windows Vista Home Premium operating system (as opposed to most... Read more

Priced at around £250, the Acer Aspire Revo is setting the standard for other nettops.  While it can not really complete with your standard desktop machine or media centre system, it does offer some useful functionality within a small frame format and would not look out of place in the living room. At the time of this review, this computer is not yet officially available in the United States. (I bought mine in Canada, and paid the $20.00 import fee). This lightweight computer is excellent for what it is intended to be....that being a small computer for living room, den, use next to your television set. It can attached to the back of the TV or used on a stand or just put on a flat surface. The model M330 comes with Windows Vista Home Premium installed (yes there is... Read more

Mine came with Vista Home Premium, whereas I would have liked either XP or Windows 7, but to its credit the OS hasn't crashed once in the 4 weeks I've owned it. On first boot it detected my LG 1680x1050 TV/Monitor and set up the correct resolution and frequency without issue. It came with a wired keyboard and mouse, though I understand that in some countries it comes with wireless ones. It is now bolted to the back of the TV using the supplied VESA backet, and I have a... The Acer's R3600 is the very first net top PC which I purchased at around 300 pounds. The product is worth a purchase on account of the compact features bundled in decent dimensions of 180X180X30 mm. Cool features such as # 6 USB ports # 2GB Ram DDR2 # 160GB hard disk # nvidia GEforce 9400 # e-sata # Card reader # VGA and HDMI ports # Webcam with decent picture capturing capability The casing is diamond shaped which is very cool, compact and strong enough to handle minor... This is a great machine that works well within its remit ie HD and movie playback and Vista capable at an affordable price. As a second computer setup +/- media center to go with my LCD tv, it does very well. The Experience Nvidia clip was probably the first HD content it has shown and my daughter squealed when the collie came on in HD. It is silent and small and will fit into a shoebox several times over. I researched the market for a small media pc and this ticked all... Read more
