The De'Longhi KG79 is a cheap starter grinder, let's make no mistake about that. You will not achieve the same results as you would with a pro grinder, end of story. I got one as a present for Christmas and I eagerly awaited it's trial. Right from the start I felt that even on its finest settings the grind quality of the coffee of fine mode was poor. No way is this fine, not even close. I would say that it close to what I would call a "Rough / medium" grind. One where although the beans have been fully ground to quite a fine consistency, one can't help but notice a definite uneven quality to the grind. As far as I'm concerned this is not "Fine".

Moving onto the finished product. When you have ground your beans, one is left with a messy transference process. The hopper that collects the coffee does so unevenly, this I suspect being partly due to the poor quality of the grind. Ground coffee clings to the sides of the hopper and one has to thump the hopper against a hard surface to settle the grind.

In the cold light of day and having used the grinder since Christmas, I'm just glad that I didn't spend my money on it.... I would have felt robbed. Instead, I'm now in the market for a better solution, because sadly.... The De'Longhi KG79 doesn't even come close.
