The player is CD Text compatible and thus, its fluorescent Dot Matrix FL Display can show track titles and artist names. It is capable of playing CD-R and CD-RW in addition to playing CDs. Its digital to analogue converter is a Super Audio CD Grade 192kHz/24-bit Cirrus Logic CS4392. It has Pitch Control which allows the user to control playback speed and features an Auto Music Scan (AMS) function which scans and finds the music on the disc. What’s more, there’s a Quick Replay button for repeating passages. Its series of playback modes include Program play, A-B repeat, Intro scan, Random play or shuffle, All tracks repeat and One track repeat. The CD5001 provides the user a choice of using a digital coaxial output or a digital optical output. Furthermore, the device also features Peak Search and has a Recording Edit Mode. For audio, the format that Marantz uses is a 16-bit Liner PCM. Its sampling frequency is 44.1 kHz and the player has a dynamic range of 100dB. The frequency on this appliance ranges between 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The S/N ratio is set at 110 dB. Also, The Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is specified as 0.0025%. The power requirement of this player is AC 120 volts or 60 hertz and the power consumption when in use is stated to be 14 watts. Furthermore, the CD5001 comes with a newly designed headphone amp. with buffer circuit and a dedicated remote control.

It opens fine but then wont close. The Marantz customer service phone number on the warranty card did not answer or have voice mail and they have not answered email inquirys about how to obtain service. Marantz CD 5001 now that Marantz CD 6000 OSE is no where to be found,, and people still need something DECENT... this is Marantz ‘s downgrade answer. NO it will not match or exceed the CD 6000 ose, but for the CHEAP price, and nowadays, even cheaper ! if you can find it.... the CD 5001 is VERY good at giving you a CLEAN and ACCURATE signal of music that is on your cd. this is a good match for cheaper amps, such as the AWESOME T - AMP that i reviewed... My Teac CD player I bought 4 years ago started having dust troubles. I had to clean the lens Monthly, than weekly, sometimes twice and it still could not play many CD's proper, even brand new ones. So again on the search for a CD player, and based on other reviews I selected this Marantz CD5001. It arrived in a few days, well packed box-in-box with lots of protection material.
